Title: Proposed OHV park south of Mulberry overview Post by: SMP63 on March 23, 2011, 03:54:14 PM The park is planned in 3 phases. All the land will be purchased from Mosaic. Phase 1 is 200 acres
already purchased & is on the south side of CR 630. Phase 2 is 2 small parcels of land, one on each side of phase 1. Phase 3 is 335 acres on the north side of CR 630 directly across from phase 1 & will be connected by a bridge over CR 630. The park will be OHV only & includes SXS's, no trucks-jeeps-buggys. Day use only, open on wkend in the begining but hopefuly 7 days a week depending on attendance. They are not sure yet if it will be pay by day or yearly permit. Camping is planned in future but will not happen until phase 3. The park will be ran by the county so probably same rules as croom. They will have RRs on site. I did see plans for fishing piers on a couple of small lakes. Phase 1 parking will be limited to 70 spaces & only approx. 240 ohv's max. @ a time due to size of ride area for now. They are not sure yet if trails will be one way or a free for all. There is a large open area planned for like sand bowl @ croom. This all depends on if they get the grant & can match that with county, private funds. July is when they find out if grant was approved or not. Hopefuly they get it & start working on phase 1 soon after. I talked with a couple of guys after meeting that had walked phase 1 & they said it will make for great riding with lots of elevation changes. Title: Re: Proposed OHV park south of Mulberry overview Post by: SMP63 on March 24, 2011, 07:46:38 AM with only 70 parking spaces i dont think its possible. they are thinking 2 to 3 ohv per parking space. its all still in the planning stage. it was suggested more than once trails should be one way,so hopefuly free for all will be kept to just the open sand area. the land was mined before the use of the big drag line cranes so it looked like fingers running north & south thats where the trails are planned to be. i do agree that free for all wont be good, they may use heelo pad more than they think. all we can do is go to the meetings & give our suggestions as riders & voice our concerns. they want that input!!
