Title: What Does It Take To SAVE TRAILS?
Post by: oAAC on December 01, 2010, 01:07:34 PM
Would it be safe to say....that we are all working at the same
cause.....saving our rights to recreate on trails in OUR Forest? From
Hikers, horseback, bicycles, Motocross-dirt bikes - ATV's, Side x
Side, 4 X 4 - Jeeps.....????

How many are "members" or "associated" with the <Other Groups> as in
the Environmentalist / Protectionist of land use?

If not....Why Not? Are they Not members of our type of clubs to keep
tabs on all of us? USDA/USFS is even members of our clubs to keep
informed as to what we do or what we are working at doing.

If WE all don't "BECOME" our opponents as well, how will we understand
them enough to continue our fight to protect our land rights use?
Think about this.

To win a "war" a "Fight” or our cause for that matter is it not
what opponents will do to understand each other and to decide the next
move?

In the game of Chess, many pieces are placed on the board; each piece
has a specific task and means of moving to challenge the opponent.
Each piece may only "attack" or "obtain" the opponent's piece
according to how they may be able to move. A Pawn may get lucky to
take on a Rook and win, but the odds are against it more, more of the
capture is based on accepting a loss in order to gain better
leverage with another more aggressive piece.

Now are you thinking the resemblance of taking on the actions and
thoughts of your opponent more that will gain a better chance of
winning?

To Unite groups for our cause increases our power to get more of which
we are trying to keep.

Becoming more informed of our opponent builds our strength to have a
better understanding of what we are against and what we need to do to
accomplish our goals.

Advocating for saving trails is like protecting your very own back yard. We can do this, it will just take a bit of our time and the outcome will be very rewarding for all of us.

..........zman03...........

Fortunately I have been Advocating for many years now. If every person who was working to Save Trails gave up- because it is a "war" - than there would not be any trails. I applaud you for your time you had spent though. Just like many things, it takes funding. Sponsors provide many of the logistics required to preserve our trails. As like the rest of our economy, even sponsors are stressed financially. It will still take everyone who recreates in the forest  and uses the trails to come together as a whole in order to make our voices heard.
Meetings, rallies, political functions........we All need to be there and be heard. The eastern part of the USA , Oklahoma to Virginia - Fla to Indiana, is the least area containing numbers to save trails, but there are so many people who ride the trails and still think "some one else will do the work for them". Do those very same people expect some one else to vote for them as well? Do they also expect their local government to make decisions about their communities, that involve that person 's interest, and hope it was what they wanted?

Well.....sir....I will not give up or stop. I ride many trails in the eastern states and wish to have my grand kids the same opportunity to do so as well.
So Help Me Help You enjoy the trails....... support in any way that you can.
