Someone got hurt riding on one of the properties and tried to sue the landowner, the police dept., and the city. The city put a stop to all riding out in Northport because of these dumbasses. I went out and was turned away, they had three squad cars at the bridges. I have heard of people getting tickets, people getting arrested, and people loosing possessions of their bikes.

Ride there if you want.

has anyone in northport area ever considered going to their local officials and maybe even looking for a piece of property to lease and setting up an off-road vehicle area???  I know of a guy that was involved that lived in northport but dont know how far he got?   you guys over their have enough land to aleast have a chance to do an area!       I would try to find a small parcel  50-100 acres to lease.  If you stick with it im sure you'll find something!!!

Are you not reading this thread?

Do you just want to hear that this is the best riding area around?

Go... Ride... If you get a ticket, get your vehicle confiscated, and/or arrested do not come on here and say you wasn't warned...

I got off easy with a verbal warning not to come back, hopefully that will be the worst that you get.

Good luck...

i love how the some of the people on here are so helpfull.  how about some other areas in the surrounding areas? looks to me like it gets a lot of traffic. give up some of the other places to ride. most of the posts on this forum are out dated. no one wants to give up thier "secret spot". what is with these people. not everyone that rides a four wheeler is an not a very nice person. maybe if some of these off road gods got off of their ass and went out and got together there wouldnt be a need to be so secretive

All I'm saying is that you can take it from scooter, who lives out there, and from me, a person who got caught riding out there, that not only is it not legal to ride in Northport it is not tolerated either.

Sorry, but the riding areas in Southwest Florida are dwindling faster than Obama's chance at re-election..?

We are all feeling it. Especially when the not so legal riding area in Bonita turns into a double murder scene.  It sucks for all of us.

SO BONITA IS CLOSED TOO?   There was a thread about people going out to binita and riding no Problems.  I hope some one over there goes to the county officials and starts inquiring or looks for a property to lease!

The war on riding areas has been going on for years and we still have nothing... What little area we do get approved SWFWM takes it right away or vice versa...

http://www.swfrpc.org/content/Agendas/2010/04-Apr/Council/Item2.pdf

Collier, Lee, and Dade counties are all involved.

Lee county has been buying up thousands of acres of land all over and do not put aside any for OHV use.

Thousands of acres off of Corkscrew, Buckingham, Lehigh, Babcock Ranch... All owned by Lee County. All fenced in with no trespassing signs.

94,000 acres of land at Babcock Ranch, Lee and Charlotte counties sign the deed for no OHV use.  What a waste...

Florida sucks when it comes to an open trail riding system. To much enviromental damage they say. But Lee County has no problem buying up land, ripping down trees, and build a new $80+million Spring training baseball stadium that will only be used a couple of months a year to a team that already has one here, to keep them in town because it brings in money for two months.  Give me a break.  An OHV park would bring in money year around.

County officials are corrupt. They have their agendas and OHV use isn't in it.  Lee County Commisioner Ray Judah has stated that all ATVs should be wiped off the face of the earth. Makes the minority Off Road community upset but makes the ever many elderly golfing voters very happy.

come on Jose..........you know me and the NPORA group, we have fighting for OHV rights in SW FL for many many many years with the same results you are getting in Miami Dade.

NP is no different than the Humps, Bonita, Cook/Brown, or 5A its all private property

As i said before there is no LEGAL spots in NP to ride.   If ya wanna take a shot I cant stop ya but NPPD can. The fines are heavy

1 time= warning ticket
2=fine $100.00
3=fine $500.00
4=Impound of your machine

Ride On

I know you have been staying the course.....there is just no enough public land in our county that would qualify for OHV use.
We did get some positive response from the DOF about the possibility of one way marked trails (for a fee) for a portion of the year in the Myakka State Forest. So we haven't given up.

Scooter is absolutely right.  "Hey Buddy" by the way.  Hope you're up to par again.  Anyway, there is no legal riding in Sarasota or Charlotte counties.  No matter what people have heard, it's not legal.  All the partial repeal did was eliminate the need for a permission slip from each land owner to cross thier land.  Most of the land around the NP area has tresspasses on in. Do I ride out there?  Yes.  Are we trash leaving A-holes who destroy things?  No.  We take trash with us when we leave.  The biggest thing is people being idiots out there, that has ruined it for everyone.  Leaving trash, smashing bottles, riding on the roads, and in general, a total lack of respect for what we have as a riding area.  This isn't a rant, just a little info.
