Yeah, we all saw the videos you posted of marginal riders on street bikes, with no wheelie bars, leasving ultra late and ultra soft, running out of room to catch you on an ATV with four times the tire surface, with wheelie bars and leaving on the throttle.

I wonder if Chillin's up for another trip this weekend? He was destroying stretched Banshees with his little old stock 450 trail bike this past weekend.

So your 400 is faster in those short runs is some kind of accomplishment? Aren't they really 440's? My 05 yfz motor is smaller than that in a heavier quad. How much did them other riders weigh? Your only advantage is power to weight ratio. I'm 210lbs and I would bet that you guys would barely beat me in 300'. Go get a real quad!!!

Actually it is about 1.5hrs south east of Tampa. You could just go across Hwy 70. You are probably about 2.5-3hrs away. Really not that bad if ya stay the night.

Id have to come up from 710 thru okeechobee then take 98 to 27 to the avon park cut off road? I think? but would that be faster then the turnpike to 60?

as much as a joke the can am is it would be funny to see it out run any thing much less have the power to get out of it own way. now thats funny.

It is a joke but the one thing you can't ignore about the CanAm 800 is power, and lots of it.  Supposedly, it's putting something around 70 HP to the ground.  I wonder how much more fun it would be if it had a manual transmission rather than a CVT.

The only thing I will say about CanAm is the Renegade I saw with the turbo was fast.That thing got up and moved.Not trying to offend you but don't think your 440 would have something for it.IMO

I will say this about my Outlander; once it hits its stride, it accelerates as hard, or harder, than my Raptor ever did.  It is a little slow coming off the line but damn, if you can keep the wheels from spinning, it accelerates like mad.  The machine kinda sucks if you have to stop or turn, though.   ;D

I have seen a few Renegades on my drag strip at the plex and they more than hold their own against 450's...now 400 ex's, that might be another story j/k.  ;D 

No you're not j/k.  Renegade or Outlander, unless you've put stupid money into it, there's not a 400EX out there that can keep up with a stock CanAm 800.  I rode a 400EX at Pismo and I know that quad well enough.  It sucked-ass compared to my Raptor and wouldn't stand a breath against any CanAm 650 or 800.

I have seen the renegades beat 450's at the Plex myself. Now I am sure either could be modified to  be faster but stock the renegade will win. I would love to see a Renegade on asphalt with slicks :o

I have to say for what he has it is fast........

I am proud to say that he did not beat me but it was close.  He raced a few others (450's) and had a tough match as well.  I think he might have won a few races against some 450's but those were pretty much stock.  His bike is PURPOSE BUILT just as he said and he has it set for the 300' run.

I will say that he is a nice guy.....obviously on here he has a chip on his shoulders (sort of) since he has a 400 (sort of) and is trying to show that his quad is fast.  After talking with him and his girlfriend for some time we realized that he is a nice guy that is taking a beating on the forum (and on the track  :o ).  It is hard for someone to come on the forum and say "my 400 will beat your 450" and not take some bashing.  He did do exactly that though his 400 beat a 450.

from what i was told he was neck and neck with a few of the 450s. he won some and thay won some. so if any on else was there tell us what you seen. and for his 435 that thay call a 440 kit to beat a 450 and run with moded 450s is some thing. he is giving up a lot 15cc to the 450s to start with so if he ran with a mod 450 or even beat a mod 450 is damn good. so can any one else tell us what all went down. also now that he came and ran the dirt drags with you. you should go run the street drags with him it is a lil dif in the dirt drags than a street drag. and if you did not know the dif in the to its the take off is a lil dif. so i think it would be nice for yall to go run with him at the street drags.

Eric first he did not beat any modded 450's.........unless you call a 450 with a pipe modded. 

As I said for what he has it is fast for drag racing.  He has struts, sits 3" (if that) off from the ground, stripped every pound on the bike that is not needed for drag racing and most importantly he had paddle tires.  All of the 450's he ran with the exception on one had regular tires.  Put paddles on those 450's and he would have lost every race instead of just the 2 or 3 out of the 20+ that he raced.  I am not criticizing what he had....as I have said in my last post. 

Once again my quad is modded yes......and set up for trails, mx and can also run the drag strip.  I beat him both times that we raced and I had regular tires.  But after I beat him I went to the mx track and did some trail riding.....NO WAY could he of done either. 

well go to a drag strip and run with him not saying he will beat you but just go for the fun of it. do some thing on his end. thats all i was getting at. and was just asking what others had to say.

Eric I was their and I have the stock 450 he beat.You say he is giving 15cc up to me but you forget the weight saving I am giving to him.He beat me a few times and I beat him.Just ask him.I won the first race and I could of stopped racing then and got on here and said I beat him and he did not beat a 450 all day.But that's not how we are we all had a good time.He could of beat me 100 times and I would still race cause it was fun.Once again not taking anything away from him but to here you talk he should of beat me by 6 bikes.

no you should all ways beat him your on a 450 hes on a 435. but i will say as long as your having fun that what its all about. having fun and meeting new friends.

To make you happy have him put it back to stock ride height and put mx tires on it and I will beat him every race.But I'll try again with paddles next time.

How many cc's equal a hp?  I do not know but I bet it is only 1 or 2 hp.  Now the weight difference alone between the STOCK 450 and johndoe's quad is probably close to 120lbs.  I think the weight difference is more of a factor than the lousy 15cc difference.  Now lets look at traction.....do you think the paddles on johndoe's quad vs the STOCK tires on the STOCK 450 were a deciding factor?  Since this track was a LOOSE sandy track I bet they had more of a role than the LOUSY 15cc difference in motors.  If the STOCK 450 got out of the hole better than the 435cc quad the 450 won.

Dalequad and I were there yesterday from 9:30 am until about 2:30 pm and didn't see anyone on the "brag" strip other than some kids. Course we were ridin the trails where it takes more than the "fastest" bike (skill and conditioning).  ;)  ;D
First time there and the place has a lot of potential. Two thumbs up!

We were riding trails most of the day this went down around 3:30 I think.
Next time stop and say hi.we had the red RZR and a  YFZ 450r.The place does have alot of potential.
Over all what did you think of it?
Did you try the zip line?

A 2005 stock bore and stroke yfz motor is about 435cc's. So we can throw that crap right out. We'll leave out the HUGE weight difference also. I should have let him have one though.

Lookin forward to gettin back down there and makin some trails in the woods. All the little water crossings could make it interesting.

I had a good time, was a lil tight on our time schedule or we couldve had more fun out there.

I plan on doing some tunning, I do think I need a sprocket change and my jetting wasnt quit right, but the competition out there was pretty tough regardless.

I was only able to make one jet change before I saw you guys out there, I was a lil lean, thats were the pop came from a few times.....but no excuses, just maybe next time out ill have it tuned in a lil more.

I usually run asphalt with a bare carb with no filter, and a 220 main jet, my 210 jet got lost in the grass...lol. and my only option after that was a 195 or 220 which would have been to rich with a filter, so I had to use the 195.

Whats so weird is for the first few races it ran really good, then after that it kinda loss progression as time went by, I wonder if it was getting to hot from being to lean? maybe its just slow...lol.

We should plan a get together out there again in a few weeks and try to get some other people out there also, that 300ft strip is worth driving for, I just need to plan a trip where I can stay for the night instead of just for a few hours.

Think about it; as the day went on and the temp/humidity went up and the heat soak increased, of course your jetting changed.  And, that leads into the second part; unless you spent stupid money on a 400EX, it's never going to keep up with a 450.  Looks like you spent stupid money.  You could have bought a used 450 and put half the money into it and had a helluva lot faster ride.  But, it is your money.   ;)

seriously though, lighten up. I know when I bought/buy quads it wasn't with the intent of spending my time arguing that I'm faster than everyone else on 4 wheels.

so you have 05 450 motor in a 06 frame? cuz you do say it was a 435 and that what thay say about the 04-05 motors.

Sorry to have to correct you but it's time for a full re-sleeve on that cylinder ! with as much use, wear and tear as it's seen even with synthetic lube it's gouged and scored up.

WTF, why are you confused? A 04' 05 yfz's were only 435cc's back then, in 06' yamaha up there cc. to 449. He obviously has both motors, he was running the 04' 05' motor last weekend and is in the process of installing his newer motor which is a 449cc factory displacement for the 06 and up.  :N

I hope your quad is quicker than you are. Stock bore, stock stroke, a well tuned clutch and a decent setup. If you can't understand that I guess you are just an idiot. >:(

Considering a built 400ex vs a built 450r for 300ft thats not bad, we should deffinetly do it again after some tunning, I think we could get some kick a** videos of drag racing posted up and get something big started?
