This is my friend from another site, our 400ex's are just as fast as eachother's.

This is a 8.4 second 1/8th mile run, beating a rappy 700, canam 450, and 450r.

WOW 400s are awsome, why did they ever even come out with 450s?

I'm sure that motor is punched out to at least a 440 or more and even at that its not that quick.

I never said it was stock!  I said I had a 400ex that would smoke a 450. Yall said it was stock, I never did!!

Even if I went to the motoplex, the minute my bike came off the trailer, you guys would refuse to race it.

Nobody that I know on here is afraid to race anyone. Can you do anything that doesnt involve riding in a straight line?  The real racing starts AFTER the first HOUR.

Look man dont get your panties in a bunch just cause theres a faster quad then yours, Ive been beat and seen faster ATVs then mine and it doesnt upset me like this upsets you....my buddy in those vids, I dont get mad when he breaks my time slip.

For one, the motoplex seems like a great place, without a proper tree and a proper speed trap, the track isnt worth racing on.

For two, theres no way a 450 thats not built for drag racing will beat this EX.

For three, even if I did waste my time driving up there, there would be no way you would race me for money once I pulled it off the trailer.

And four, I dont even use NOS or race gas, So stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

When you guys said there was a sand track and a tree, I figured there would be actual drag racing going on, not a bunch of kids goofing around on MX quads, theres not even a trap set up.

Say what you want about doing anything except going in a straight line, its your only out for my quad being faster then yours.

For your ATV to beat mine, youd need some serious paddles and alot of motor work.

MX and XC are fun for the kids....Drag racing is for the BIG BOYS.

You say its not that quick, but those other ATVs hes racing ARE drag racing built ATVs, even they would burn any regular raptor or 450 on the drag strip.

They got wheelie bars, drag struts and motor.

I have to agree with chillin rear Racing starts after being on the course for at least over a Hour. Anyway Not taking anything away from a 440, but in a 1/8th mile drag on dirt or Pavement the start is very important, Also so is the weight or the rider. But i have seen especially in 1/8 mile drags slower cars beat other cars because they had a beter Launch or beter reation time on the light. Hell I even beat my friends 450 that had engine work done to with my stock 450 because of reaction time, and that was a sand drag at the plex. I have also seen chillin drag and His bike is quick and knows how to ride it, you would have a race on your hands.

I guess we can't answer this question? Anyways if you stuck  as much money into that dinosaur as a 450r you would be screaming a lot better than a 8.4 in the 1/8. The 400ex is only capable of some much horsepower do to a old fashion air cooled system with a lousy cylinder head port design that isn't even close in flowing the numbers to put up good horsepower numbers a 450 can. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.......
From what I saw on that video that those were stock 450s and a stock 700, not to impressive you ask me and if you feel like growing some balls go try to sell that bs over at trx450r.org. Where some of those guys are running in the high 6's in the 1/8.  :ouch.gif rolback1

The guys running 6s have close to 80hp, theres alot more then cams and bores on those quads, %90 chance they are on NOS along with bores and cams, A turbocharged 450 runs in the high 7s.

In order to go in the 6s, you have to be over 100mph.

And those were not stock 450s or stock 700s in that video, try again....lol.

When ever your feeling lucky bring that dinosaur down here to st.pete and we'll take to the track and run them down the 1/8 mile with my motocross trx450 that puts out 65 hp. bring your pocket book. 8)

this is getting good. i'll put up eric's money and I got a hole stable full of ltr's banshee's and a LT500R that will spank a 400 or 440. lets stop kicking tires and let's light some fires!

and if chillin showes up with his banshee the we all better put up cause I have been told about his banshee. and he can cut a good light and ride it.

johndoe 83 thanks for the heads up on this site. hum lets see where should i start ? lets start with its my 440 that he is talking about in the videos that is walking the dog on the 07 700rappy the 09 450 can-am and the 07 450r. the mods on the 700 rappy are hmf programer stage 2 hot cam and pipe on 110 race fuel. he lives down the road from me. the 450 can-am small bore kit stage 2 cam pipe fuel work to make it run on Q16 race fuel. and he runs a drag bike as well. and the 450r has stage 2 hot cam pipe and jet kit and he drives a drag car also. so you cant say thay car ride or that there not good off the lights. this is my 13 year old son frist year at this. so thay have more time on the track and lights. so please dont  :'( or get  >:( that the 400-440 is uptting it down on them like that. go old *ss ex lol and if you have a 450 that you want to run i will be more thin happy to come take your money ;D

Let me guess they had slicks and a wheelie bar as well, yeah right. The guy running  Q16 with the can-am is doing more hurt than good, he'd be better off running 87 octane. That fuel is way to cool to burn in any quad motor. It definitely appears that all three of those riders could ride there way out of wet tampon box....
Bring it down, I'm sure I can find a blaster for you to race to give you a chance. Maybe  :o

So now the truth comes out. It is not a 400EX but a 440EX? Either way, you really impress me with having the fastest quad. I bet you are the coolest guy on earth and have tons of friends too. Man I wish I could be like you. Bet my dog can beat up your dog though! In my opinion a real man wouldn't come on here runnin his mouth he would just show up and race and let his actions speak louder than his words (unless ya just like stirrin up people that is). Ya never see any pros posting on the web about how fast their machines are they just go out and prove it. I would think ya would get a lot more respect if ya did it that way. If your faster then so what, somebody will always come along and be faster than you, then again, so what? Anybody can come on here and make any claim they want, the truth will only be known when they actually do it. Come to a FTR Harescramble or a GNCC and tell me again it's easier than a drag race.

Ive seen more then one thread on here of these guys arguing on whos faster or whos a better rider, all I did was say I had a 400ex thats faster then most 450s....and proved it with video.....so they can say what they want about me, ive done nothing they havent done before me.

Also you dont go around calling your yfz a 480, or your banshee a 400, or your raptor a 680, you call it a yfz or a shee or a raptor, just like I called mine a 400ex.

no one was hiding the fact it was a 440, I went out of my way to say it was a DRAG QUAD, and they still assumed it was stock....lol.

Actually we never said anything about being the best at anything, we simply said we had 400ex's that give 450s the run down, ALL these other guys are saying they are the best and our 400s cant touch them.

I brought up the fact that we had fast 400s, and these guys went ape s**t on us calling us liars saying they were the fastest and we were full of s**t....even after the video was posted of the 400 beating the 450s and raptor.

2 x the get some quads out and go to the track. im trying to get enough quads at are track so we can run for points,champping ship. if we can get it going maybe it can growe into something like ama or gncc and so on.

The reality is that your in north Carolina and will probably never take the trip down here. If you do decide to come down here I can be ready in a month, recovering from an injury. Bring your pocket book 500 dollar best of three race, Anoriginal will hold the money during the race since he's an attorney and can be trusted.  ;)

trx#9 who the hell lives in north carolina i live in south carolina now but was born in south fla. a small place called pahokee aka muck city there nothing but dirt and muck there. i just moved here in 07 and i do come there my famly lives there in pahokee, okeechobee,belle glade, and my mother inlaw lives 3 to 6 miles form bradenton drag way off zipper rd. so yes i do come down. and as fare as the best 2 out of 3 i dont do that. thats bull sh*t racing all it will take is one time to run me and you want try it again. hell ill do better than that ill let you put down your best time and i will run mine. then we will let the set the lights up for bracket racing if im faster thay will let you go then me. and i will still be you just off the lights. i run one and done that all it takes i miss a shift and you win the you win you do some thing wrong than its on you. so you pick how you want your  *ss handed to you.

This is very funny to me. There is no reason to run 110 in a stock Raptor with a mild cam and a pipe.... plus running a HMF programmer (which is just a re-badged Dobeck) i doubt that 700 is putting out more than 40 hp. Your talking out of your butt or your buddy doesn't know what he's doing or just likes waisting 110 on a bike that could run 87. Just sayin...

Which is not anything we ever said, I said I had a 400ex that gives 450r's a run for their money and 90% of the time will beat a 450r, we even posted a actual video of it.

If you watch youtube, you will see many, many videos of 400ex's beating 450's, if you look up 1/8th mile atv's you will see actual drag races were 450's will not beat my or erics 1/8th mile times, even banshees and raptors....you have to do a lil research to find actual times and what mods they have, which may be hard for you guys to do.

So no we are not talking chit, you guys seem like the average 16 year old kids at the MX track runnin their mouths cause your parent's bought you a new quad and now you think your the fastest around, when I do hit up the motoplex reality will slap you silly and ill be leaving with your attitude in my pocket.

It seems as if this topic brings out you youngsters and gives you the oppurtunity to blow off some puberty steam, which is fine if thats what you need to do.

Hey guys, guess what! I just read where John Force racing is completely switching out all of their cars for 400ex's for the rest of the year. They said that there's only one way to be sure nobody can beat them down the drag strip and that's to switch to 400ex's.

Also, I understand that next year, the big four (Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki) are phasing out all water cooled machines over 400cc's. They say that there's no point in building anything else since the air cooled 400's dominate everything on the planet already.

And Eric (trx#9..not crip), you know these guys won't race you. They've been offerred any amount of money they can cover and haven't accepted a race yet. When you're as fast as they are, you don't even need to race. You can just talk about it and win.

I hooked up a dry system with a "sneaky pete" bottle on my John Deere Z-Track and it ran a 6.23 in the 1/8th. It'll go 5.90's with wheelie bars I'm sure.

And I donate my underwear to trx#9 after six month's use.

I'm thinking about using some plumbing straps and left over wood screws to mount up a turbo on the ztrak. It should go deep into the 5's then.

A .500 is a perfect light my friend.

They never put me in any certain class when I go to the drag strip, Its usually test and tune and they say just line up with the bikes....I have never been given a special class to run in.

And that site says nothing about quads, and im sure you looked at the picture of the bike that said super pro and just figured thats what it was for.

They would never run bikes like that with quads, NEVER, regular bikes yes, bikes like that NO!!

.500 is a perfect light in "bracket racing" if your not bracket racing, then anything below that is way better then .500.

you really are dumber than a box of rocks, i have been down that track hundreds of times in cars and on bikes, they DO run bikes and quads at the same time and it isnt a super "pro" class it is "super pro" and "pro" and a .500 light, what that means is when the pre stage lights are activated it take .500 seconds from the time the top yellow light of the tree come on to the green, a "pro" tree is .400, that is where all the lights com on then green

Dial in time is the difference between your time and the guy your racing against cause he or you is faster, if my dial in is 8.9 and I run a 8.8 I breakout and lose the race....your boy said that you break out and lose if your RT is less then .500....im not wrong he is, and it doesnt have anything to do with each other your right and I never said it did.....lol

Holy cow!!!! Did'nt this all start from a vid of a 400 beating a 450? I think you all should put em on the trails where they were intended. I got a 440EX with a bunch of aftermarket stuff that i'll put up against whatever in the woods (the exception being Borich,Kiser, Mcgill's bikes) The straight line stuff is mostly bike, where woods racing is alot more about the combination of the bike and rider. Anyone with deep pockets can build or have built a 120+mph bike. Build one to go through the woods fast ,where turning and various other tasks come into play if you want to go this overboard with the challenges and gauntlets being thrown down! Build a bike that is an all round performer, then run mouths.Or better yet come to an FTR hare scramble and lets see what you got. I know most of you posting on here. Most of you know me from the SSQSA or FTR. I will be there this season. I'm curious to see how badass some of you really are!

Yeah deffinetly, Ive had my quad set up for MX, Flat track, Trail riding, Hair scrambles, it was killer fast for all that stuff, thats why its good at drag racing also.

Unfortunatly, now there is NOWHERE to ride within 2 hours of where I live, the nearest place is a Drag Strip thats 1 hour away, If I try to ride in my neighborhood, they will impound my ATV, with loading and unloading and stops at the store, it damn near takes 5 hours round trip just for me to ride for a few hours.

My quad is a all round performer, since everything is so far away and I cant even ride in my own neighborhood, I have it ready for drag racing.

I could switch it back to MX or trails in 30 mins if I needed to, but I wouldnt be able to ride it anywhere, so it stays ready to drag race.

i also understand why there was alot of confusion.....with that timing system, a .501 light would be very bad

your reaction time on a nhra timing system would have been a .505, which is a very good light

You may want to check that again Pete. I think that would be a .552 reaction time on the newer Compulink systems. Still not bad considering leaving off a clutch and the short runout.

They changed it a few years back, basically if your running a .500 full tree they erased the .500 and go by the last digits unless you have a real bad RT and they have to use all three.

 I make my living off the drag racing industry and have worked in the industry for the last 21 years. I have made made more than 2600 documented passes down the strip in everything from a scooter to a pro stock only thing I haven't taken down the strip is a snowmobile. I also know that Dalequad welded up the chassis on at least 3 of the cars I have driven. He I believe he worked For Suncoast Performance and Applied Racing. I have also built several rides from a pile of tubing and some fiberglass to a complete running vehicle, I am talking everything Transmission, engine, chassis, rear end, wiring, on top of the fact I built most of the bolt on parts from blocks of billet aluminum including the shifter, fuel pump, chute handle, vacuum pump, water pump, brake calipers, hubs, shocks, struts, Sheet metal intake, motor plates, water necks, overflow tanks.

One thing I can promise you is there is always someone faster out there, you may think it is not possible but you would be surprised what can happen.

There are different timing of the trees used in drag racing depending on the class and just about every track uses the compulink system to operate all the sensors and the tree.
The most common is the .500 full tree and the .400 pro tree.
Full Tree: used in Competition, Super Stock, and Stock, super pro/pro bike for which a handicap starting system is used to equalize competition. The three amber bulbs on the Christmas Tree flash consecutively five-tenths of a second apart, followed five-tenths later by the green starting light. A perfect reaction time on a full Tree is .500

Pro Tree: used in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street, which feature heads-up competition. All three large amber lights on the Christmas Tree flash simultaneously, followed four-tenths of a second later by the green starting light.

Reaction time: the time it takes a driver to react to the green starting light on the Christmas Tree, measured in thousandths of a second. The reaction-time counter begins when the last amber light flashes on the Tree and stops when the vehicle clears the stage beam.

I am not trying to take anything away from you, 8.4 @ 73mph is a very respectable time on a barely more than stock 400ex

Youve been on over 2600 drag runs and only produced one time slip from 2004, its not even from a quad, which this whole thread is about.

That was the first time slip/first passfrom the first car I built 100% from scratch and it had a pooch motor in it at the time that was 496 cubic inches. I never said it was a Quad just that it was a 400ex eater. All my other time slips are stapled in log books. I have had Quads on a drag strip that are much faster than your 8.4 but like I said before that number is very respectable for what you have. You came on the website to get people going so I posted a slip to do the same in return...All for fun right...

Why did you pick a raptor 350 frame? I know you hate 450's but wouldn't there be more adequate room in a 450 frame and strength.

yes but my son got it this way so im helping him with it. 2nd gear is gone in it i sent the motor to a buddy in okeechobee fla. all i have to do is pay him $100. to fix it. i do have to get the parts for it. and as for the 450 fram not going to do any thing with them we have a 400 ex fram that we are going to put a cbr 600 motor in. lol no 450s  :no

I wonder what a R6 chassis with all the parts weighs compared to the 350 chassis with the R6 motor in it?

You know how hard it is to get a trophy in FTR! I have a few. I'm a little rusty but i'm finding that the rust falls off quick. I've never done any other racing besides woods on atvs or dirt bikes. I know too much motor and not enough skill can be a bad combination.As well as too much motor not enough suspension. I would really like to see if these guys would try the woods.

There is Super pro, Pro and Super Pro Bike at that track but when attendance is low they run what is called Super Pro/Pro Combo which on those nights all three classes race each other. They also run a sportsman class which would include foot brake cars (no delay box) and stock bikes (no air shift or staging Rev limiters)

That makes alot of sense, also before Moroso became Palm Beach International Raceway, they put us in sportsman class.

The time slips at countyline dont show what class? test and tune there is like get in line and run with no waiting...its pretty sweet!

its the same way at union county dragway where we run. we use to run with the car to but one of the track had a bad wreck and now we just run with the bikes
