Hey guys I think I'm at a lost cause here but I figure it wont hurt to ask. My iphone got drown tonight. I was playing basketball with it out of my pocket on the hood of my truck around dark, came inside and forgot about it and of course some random ass thunderstorm hit at 11:30 at night. I mean its expected at 2 in the afternoon but 11:30? Anywho phone got drenched and now the battery cant make up its mind if its dead or not, the speakers barley make any sound, the screen is doing a little flickering, and it keeps saying this device isn't compatable with iphone and wants to turn airplane mode on. Don't know exactly what that is, but I know I don't want it turning into a 747 in my living room. Knowing what this thing can do, its not so much of a stretch.

So am I just screwed every which way to sunday? Like can you somehow open it up and let it dry out or what, or am I out a few hundred dollars? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I would pop the sim card out and aim a fan at it to blow air across it to dry it out and leave it off! Turning it on can short something out and def ruin it.   Fresh water is not necessarily a killer of electronics as much as salt water or chemicals are.
If you want to be daring....
The screen actually pops out from the bezel.  You can use the thinest micro driver you have and slide it between the glass and bezel and pry it up from the charger side.  The screen is connected at the top so don't shove anything in that end or you could damage the ribbon.  Also be very very very careful not to flex the screen.  the monitor is attached below the touch screen and if yu flex it, it will crack and your screen will be ruined. If you manage to pop it open, don't try to separate the other end or your ging to have other issues.

Sounds crazy but... Put it in a zip lock bag full of white rice... The rice will dry it out. Had a friend with an Ipod touch that got wet and did this... It worked.

I agree with the white rice thing.  Remember in the future, if you have an electronic item get wet, never turn it on.  If it is already on, turn it off immediately.  As long as it has no power (remove battery too if possible) and you get it dried out, it typically won't hurt it.

id try the rice thing, or what i was thinking before i saw the rice post is get a bucket of damprid and take the battery and sim card out and leave the phone in the damprid bucket for a few days. i think the key is to not turn the phone on till its dried, if the phone got wet while it was not on and you don't turn it on until its dry again i don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. you never know with phones, iv submerged some phones and pulled them out real quick and it was like nothing happened, others have been ruined from just getting them a little wet, i dont know how tough the iphones are, i finally just got one of those ugly Motorola work phones since im so hard on them.

Just saw a clip on the news about this place http://www.theiphonehospital.com/The_iPhone_Hospital/Home.html . They made it sound like they could repair any ipod or iphone for a reasonable price.

Thanks for all the help guys! I did what you guys said and killed it and threw it in a bag of rice. Let it sit for about 2 days and so far it seems to be working ok. The speakers are sounding normal again and the screen is solid. The only thing that seems to be wrong is the ipod wont play music without headphones. The volume bar disappears unless there are headphones plugged it but its fine i guess. Beats spending 400 on a new phone. Appreciate the help guys, thanks.

Have you hooked it up to your p.c. and gone to Itunes for any updates and sync it?

Whenever I get electronics wet I wrap them in a towel & put it on the dashboard of my truck all taken apart and let the heat dry it out.
