Title: mud tires?

What is the difference between skinny and wide tires in the mud and which do you prefer to use?

Wides are considered the 12" wide tires and the skinnys are considered the 10', 11's, or even 9.5's. The reason riders use skinnys in the rear from what I understand, they are are lighter tire and spin/turnover easier in the mud. I am sure others will chime in with some other info for ya.

i always though the narrower tires were better in mud when it comes to a more aggressive tread because the narrow tire bites into the mud better where the wide tire will just spin on top and never dig down and get any grip. wide tires disperses your weight better over sugar sand. i always thought skinny's were for mud and wide tires are for sugar sand... just my thoughts on it, this is from more of a truck guys point of view, i always though a 12.5" wide tires was a good all around tire, a 14.5 or 15 is for sand and a 10.5 was for sloppy mud. atvs may be different being that they don't weigh anything but from my experience, just about everyone runs wide tires in the back and narrows on the front on atvs. out of all the tires iv mounted i have never had anyone want anything other then a wide tie out back  and a narrow one up front, if i mounted narrow tires on all 4 rims it would be becasue i made a mistake and mounted "front" tires on the back rims. dont know what really works the best but this is the trend.
