Title: Carb question Post by: danfl on June 05, 2010, 04:31:35 PM I let me Suzuki eager sit for a month or two with out starting it. When I did start it, I could not open the choke fully without it stalling. It used to started right up at fully choke. I never had to choke it before. Only 750 miles on it. Now a few months later and starting it every month, I can only open it about 2/3 of the way. Do you think the carb is gunked up? If so, how do I clean the carb. Just open it up and clean it with carb cleaner? Any help would be great. :'( :'( :'( I can only be mad at myself for not starting it every month like I used to do.
Title: Re: Carb question Post by: lugnuts on June 09, 2010, 09:54:29 PM your going to have to pull it off and clean it out by removing all the jets and making sure all are clean and clear. you may need to use a small piece of wire to push through jets and some good carb cleaner. drain gas and put fresh gas in and I would replace the spark plug because I am sure it's smoked up from running with the choke on
Title: Re: Carb question Post by: Chevy1500z71 on August 11, 2010, 01:06:01 AM did you ever figure this out? your carb isnt dirty, Suzuki's petcocks turn them selves off from a vacuum diaphragm in the petcock. if the diaphragm rips the petcock will dump raw fuel through the vacuum line into the carb causing it to run very rich. if the carb was dirty it would run in choke good becasue choke will add fuel to the mix while the jets are cloged.
plug the vacuum line on both the carb and petcock sides, turn the petcock sideways to the free flow position and be done with it. Title: Re: Carb question Post by: danfl on October 08, 2010, 01:07:22 PM Thanks for your help. I started it and let it run for a long time slowly opening the choke. I would get to one point and it would stop. I then thought maybe it was the idle. Because it did not seem to idle correctly. I turned the plastic star thing two turns. Started it up and it worked fine on choke fully open. I am thinking maybe one of the kids saw the plastic star thing and turned it. I have started it two times since and it worked fine. I will need to try it again and take it out for a long run and add in new fuel.
