Title: Electrical help on Honda! Post by: MiamiE on December 04, 2009, 03:28:48 PM I got a TRX300. I got the bike a week ago. I charged the battery and tried to start it on wednesday. I got a loud clicking coming from the starter solenoid. I was told it could be bad and was also told all the connections could use a good cleaning. I decided to take it all apart and clean the connections. I cleaned them all up put it all together and when I go to connect the ground (negative) which is the last connection, the motor tries to turn over and start. I have never seen this before and it sure as heck wasn't doing it wednesday. What could this possibly be? I am lost with this one. If anyone could post some help or call me up I would appreciate it. 305-934-1430. Thanks, Erick.

Title: Re: Electrical help on Honda! Post by: Baileygunns on December 04, 2009, 06:28:05 PM Why would it be on now and clicking wildly on wednesday? Because it's bad. I'm a firm believer that there is a little troll that resides in all solenoids. When he gets tired and wore out from years of water, grime, and vibrating beatings he likes to play tricks... I've had many o' run in with this little bastard... If you connect the ground and it continuously cranks over it's usually the solenoid being stuck. Just like when you jump the 2 terminals with a screw driver... There is a possibility that the start button is stuck too but usually these stop working from corrosion instead of getting stuck on... |
