I always considered it cheating to hunt with dogs. I think it is much more challenging and requires much more skill if you hunt without them. But to each their own. Dawn
Title: Re: hog hunting Post by: EIGER-MUDDER on September 23, 2009, 06:13:21 PM hunting with dog is not cheating its more fun. and the hog have a 50% of geting away

Now that's cheating. :wink.gif Title: Re: hog hunting Post by: digginfool on September 23, 2009, 10:21:07 PM hunting with dog is not cheating its more fun. Yeah, it's not cheating and a lot of fun to have 4 or 5 dogs hold down a hog so you can walk up and execute it. That's like saying a gang rape is more fun because the victim has a 0% chance of getting away. Hunting with dogs is not sport; you might as well call it slaughter. I have always, and forever will, refuse to hunt with dogs. Just my $.02. I do hunt and I hunt with guns. I have made head shots on deer from over 300 yards. That's skill and it is rewarding to make that kind of shot. I just dont see the satisfaction of shooting a hog that is, for all practical purposes, tied down. You may as well buy your pork from Publix with that strategy. Title: Re: hog hunting Post by: foreman1 on September 23, 2009, 11:22:14 PM Eiger ,
Spend the money up front on a good set of vests for your dogs. No reason anybody's dog should be gutted now adays , good dogs are hard to come by. Post pictures of them with vests when you gettem. Look for ads in Hog Hunter magazine . Title: Re: hog hunting Post by: psd on September 24, 2009, 08:06:53 AM Hey Eiger great pics thanks for posting! The only way to truly hunt is to use your bare hands and a good ole rock!!!!!!! J/K Nice hog when is the BBQ??? Title: Re: hog hunting Post by: Anoriginal on September 24, 2009, 02:51:34 PM I've hunted with dogs and still do when I can. I love it and it's definitely a challenge. It's real easy to set up and shoot hogs from a distance. They're not exactly the most allusive animal and certainly nowhere on par with a white tail when it comes to difficulty from the tree stand.
Personally, I'm a spot and stalk or track and stalk fan. Title: Re: hog hunting Post by: buythisatvstuff on September 28, 2009, 10:55:43 PM I grew up with boys from Lutz that used nothing but a couple dogs and a Buck knife. I don't see anything wrong with it. I just don't see hunting and killing to hang it on the wall. If you kill it and you eat it I say it's all good. I would definitely invest in armor for the dogs to keep them safe. Thanks for sharing the pics. And when's the pig roast ?
Title: Re: hog hunting Post by: EIGER-MUDDER on September 29, 2009, 06:12:50 PM roast was last week .. to late sorry .... and i dont head hunt if i dont eat it . it gets given away .....
