Title: New technology for dirtbikes in the 2010 yamaha lineup
Post by: buythisatvstuff on September 13, 2009, 06:03:44 PM
I haven't compared it to the other 450 MX brands, but saw this video and thought it was worth posting. I like the straight out exhaust and some of the other innovative things they're doing like moving the air filter location. Check it out.

I wish I had the knees for a dirt bike.   :'(  Looks like the ads for the old two-strokes.  I wonder if they'll ever be able to return to the power monsters of the '80s (CR500, RM490) with 4-stroke technology.  I just bought a new bay boat and the wife said that's it for toys.  She promises to hang me out by the nads if I buy one more toy.   :D

I wasn't riding back in the days of the big bore 2 stroke dirtbikes (not that they aren't around here and there now) but what can you do with all that power anyway ? I have an 07 YZ450F and it's nuts as it is. I bought it figuring I'd get bored with the 250f, but if I had to do it over I'd go with the smaller CC. It would mean more shifting at Croom, but you crack the throttle on that 450F in the woods and it instantly increases the pucker factor  :o I'm sure it's great on a track, but the 250 should be plenty for the tight woods.

its a shame they stopped R&D with the 2 strokes, the yz250 is unchanged.
