Title: The Fool Has Arrived Post by: digginfool on August 09, 2009, 10:52:23 PM The Fool and his crew is in Colorado! We left 4:30 yesterday morning and we're in Limon, Co. (2000 miles in 36 hours - not bad for a motorhome). We are so excited to hit the trails. We'll arrive in Taylor Park tomorrow and you can bet we'll be riding as soon as we can get the machines unloaded. Won't have internet access until after we leave but as soon as we're back in range, I'll be posting photos and video. Wish you could be here (except for TRX, Skeered, Fishy and a few of you other boneheads). :D

Title: Re: The Fool Has Arrived (Back Home, That Is) Post by: digginfool on August 23, 2009, 02:52:28 PM We are back and Taylor Park was everything I hoped it would be. We averaged 70 miles of riding for the 6 days we rode. Riding ranged from groomed dirt country roads to steep, cobble and boulder covered mountain-sides. The park is at 9,450 feet and riding took us to over 12,700 feet. On some days, our altitude changed by more than 5,000 feet from high to low. The amazing thing was the Prairie and Recon ran perfect at all altitudes without rejetting (the Prairie has a CV carb which automatically adjusts to barometric pressure and the Recon was just lucky, I guess). The views were spectacular and the riding even better. This is definitely not the place to take a sport bike and you better put heavy skids on your utility quads. One of the first things you notice when you get there is Polaris OWNS the ATV market in Colorado. Honda was a distant second and you saw very few Kawasakis or CanAms. Didn't see a singe Suzuki. Dirt bikes were virtually all KTM. I think I saw one Honda and a couple of Yamahas. Again, not a single Suzuki. Temperatures were as predicted; mid to upper 70s day, mid 30s nights. First night, the coach was covered in ice from the heat pump condensate so it was definitely well below freezing that night. (we also survived an outrageous Colorado thunderstorm that included golf ball sized hail - broke both vent covers on my enclosed trailer). Anyway, still have a ton of clean-up to do. Will try to post some pics tonight. This is a trip I would put at the top of your list. We are going again next July if anybody wants to follow!
