Title: yep it's street legal
Post by: buythisatvstuff on August 09, 2009, 02:18:39 PM
I have on 07 YZ450F dirtbike that was titled as street legal in Florida. It came with a regular street registration card, and motorcycle tag. I've already checked into it and once it's titled as street legal it doesn't change, just as once they're titled as off highway only it doesn't change without something near an act of God. I've kicked around the idea of selling. I know it's a rare item and something many would like to have as it's street legal, which impacts its worth. My question is how much would something like this rare attribute add to such a vehicle ? Just looking for some feedback before I make any decisions. Thanks

How was it titled street legal, was it a mistake?

As far as I can tell yes. It was bought brand new from Barneys of Brandon. Like I said street registration and tag came with. I've talked to someone that deals with titles and the state - they both said once it's titled street legal it's street legal to stay. That's why it's so hard to get one with the designation of off highway only to be converted to street legal. Any idea what it adds to the value ?

At least or a little more than you paid for it. Sample it on Ebay, put up a high reserve and see what happens. You can also post it on a  dirt bike forum as well.

Yes it needs lights, and 1 mirror, blinkers are not mandatory for road use, but the fact that it is titled for street use makes it a 1 of. I know there are dual sport bikes and things, but this is a full MX bike. I've ridden it on the road as is with no prob. I wouldn't advise that as you could be stopped and ticketed for not having proper equipment. These are things that would factor in to what it would be worth. I know many here wish they could have the unicorn atv street legal, and it's a two wheeler I have, but it's a full MX bike with the ability to be run down the road to your local riding spot, or down the roads at Croom, ONF, etc. and it's totally legal.
Any suggestions on price ? Just wondering if it's a significant amount or not.

thats pretty sweet but you will have to find the right person that wants one like that. not many people looking for a dual sport want a full mx bike. the higher compression ratio, the suspension, and a lot of stuff play into it. its not a good bike to ride on the street necessarily. i wouldnt mind one but thats me. i think a street legal CRF450R would be kick ass. i wouldnt use it as a commuter bike though. but if you can find someone that wants a bike like that for the street youll get some money for it. the economy might affect it some but i still think youll do good if you decide to sell it. put it on craigslist for a ridiculous amount of money and see what happens. that would be a bad ass super moto bike.
