Ok, since I am coming back to Florida I think I will need new tires for the quad.  Now I will keep the same size tires that are on my quad but I was wondering what most of you mudders are using.  I will most likely being doing 1/2 of my riding in the mud and the other 1/2 on trails.  What do ya think?

Fish:

I've got Mudlites on both of my BF 750's. 27's on one with 28's on the other. They're great in the slippery stuff and in sand but, ill mannered on harder surfaces.  I only use them because I spend a lot of time in the Everglades.

If I could get away with it, I'd use something a little less aggressive. Maybe Big Horns or something non directional. Chillinthemost runs a set of Big Horns on his Rhino and loves them. Very durable tire, non-directional and excellent all-around traction.

When are you moving back and to where are you moving?

The maxxis zilla's do very well, just put 28's on the brute...handled everything with ease.

That's funny because that's the same tires (Bighorns)  my friends that do a lot of rock crawling use, who would have thunk it  ;D.  I was hoping to have something a little more aggressive but if aggressive means ill mannered on harder packed trails then maybe I might go with bighorns.  

I'll be back by the first week of August and will be living in Clearwater.  I feel like I am coming back with my tail between my legs but I will be glad to get back, this move to Nevada has been a disaster which I saw coming, I tried to tell the wife but she knows more than I do I guess  :(.  It will take us a few months to clear the cobwebs but I look forward to my bass fishing and fishing the beaches and passes and even a little offshore fishing when I get settled in.

I love my Terra cross's~! I even put them on the new King Quad I just bought. Great in sand,smooth on trails and the hookup well in mud.

Im running 28silverbacks on my KQ 750 and love em. They dig if youre not careful.

JrPro, you went down top 28s, werent u on 29.5s?

kevin put them on his, my buddy.  I took his 29.5s that are on mine now, but he put 28's on his, his is alright...with 2 people on mine it's like the same as 1 person on his bike...a lot less capable!

I hear ya. I finally got to ride my bike two days ago @the hump without my girlfriend..Does much better. I got a CATVOS 5inch coming.

I have 27" Swamp Lites on my 750 KQ they are aggresive enough for mud ( I ride both Trails and mud)  but yet very trail friendly and don't beat you up. If you plan on doing more mudding than trail riding go with Mudlites if you plan on mostly mudding go with Silverbacks or Outlaws ( not very trail friendly at all).

Ok, now I did some browsing on the web and the swamp lites seem to get a good revue.  My question now is that I now have my stock tire sizes are 25x8x12 up front and 25x10x12 on the back.  Now I don't know a lot about tires but I assume the first # (25) is the height, the second # (8) is the width and the third # (12) is the rim size, is this correct?  If that is correct then do you guys think I would be ok with a little taller tire all around.  I was really hoping for originally to have 25x10x12 up front and 25x12x12 on back but it is hard to find the rear size that I want so I was thinking on going up 1" in the height.  Maybe something like 26x10x12 front and 26x12x12 on rear.  What do ya think, will this affect my performance much?

Mine are 27" with no lift and they cleared fine so the 26" should be no problem for you. and yes you are correct about the tire sizing.

Outlaws/Silverbacks are actually not bad for trail riding lmao.. Unless ur between 1 and 6mph usually.

i have 30'' mudzilla on my 700  they work good in mud and trail.... 

Matt, do you even ride anymore??  Jeesh! Just give me your bikes. I will take good care of them.  ;)

I still ride. Just haven't had time lately to ride that much. We'll go again to the cypress once the summer is over and the water drops.

Fish:

You'll like the 26's. A good friend of mine runs 26's on his bike and it does everything he wants it to do. Also, it still maintains a decent manner on the trails. And the swamp lites are a really nice tire to boot.

The big mud tires are great in the mud but, that's it. My bike with the 27's (and especially the 28's) is/are ill handling in the corners. Big bike, big tires, big lugs....not a great formula for whipping it through the trails. Granted, you can still do it but, it's not as friendly as a smaller, less aggressive tire.

Do the snorkels and have fun with the bike, I know too many people that highly regret their lifts...biggest I'll go on an atv is 2".  Anything more and your going to have problems with boots all day (even when catvos says you won't...you still do.) One of the guys we ride with had a catvos 6" on his grizz and nothing but probs...tie rods, 12 axles, etc before he sold it and went back t ostock...now no problems.

I never had probs with my 2".








And I still say 28" zillas, great all around.

I know people with lifts that dont have much problems .. guess ill have to figure it out on my own =P

If I were you I would get the 27" mud machine bi claws and tri claws. They do great in mud and are much smoother than a pure mud tire, the ride is comparable to a swamplite but better in mud.  Plus they look great too IMO

The big horns are a great tire. I ran 26 in MudZillason my 700 KQ and they did great in every situation. Look at the Mudlite XTR's as well. They were my favorite tire thus far.

UPDATE..........I have decided to go with the Swamp Lites in the stock size for my quad which are 25*8*12 front and 25*10*12 rear.  Should have them by Tuesday so when I FINALLY get back to Florida I will ready to hit the grou........mud running  ;D.
