Title: Thunderbowl Speedway TT A-Class Minis
Post by: greenmachine on April 12, 2009, 12:29:32 PM
My son on the black DRR90 #24x first time ever doing TT.
In the first practice he spun quite a few 360's, it was pretty funny.
I put some flat track tires on the rear & that was the difference maker.

Heat 1-2nd from the outside, he started about 3rd & made it to first on the back strait then he checked out. On lap 2 his plug wire came off & he finished the final 2 laps with the plug wire hanging off the end of the plug. A really fast little girl passed him right before the finish line. He got 2nd by about a quad length

Heat 2- He started 4th & went to first in the 2nd or 3rd lap & checked out again. 1st place heat 2

Main Feature- He got the holeshot but 2 kids tangled in front of the flagstand & they restarted. He then started 2nd but went to the fron between turn 1-2 and never looked back.
The boy is hooked & I am officially looking for a 2nd job ;)

to be fair, this little girl on the black DRR90 was really fast & she charged all night long.  This was the main feature restart & she is the one in front.
She holeshotted the feature on the restart, but my son is a little insane & only knows to keep it pegged through every turn ???

The mini class is starting to grow. We had some great racing out the the kids last night.
We even had a nice little adult mini class that was entertaining.
We have another race at Thunder Bowl in 2 weeks, gates will open at 9am and practice will start 11:30 or 12. Then after the TT racing is done we will prep the track and start practice for the flat track race under the lights. Hope to see everyone there.

Great Job Steve!!! Now you're gonna be double whopped or even triple with the Plex weekends. I'm putting too much money into Jam's bike as it is and Momma is beginning to look at me sideways  :-\  . I'm sure he'd love TT as I did when we had it here. Tell Colb to keep up the good work! Are you guys still going to run him in MX?

As far as we know, we will finish the whole series at Bartow this year & try to hit a TT race at Thunderbowl when possible.
Honestly, for he & I to drive up there & race cost me less than a night at Bartow. It is only $5 for him to race & no membership fee.
Gate fee is $10 for over 12yrs & $5 for under.
Gate fee & race fee = $20 which is what we pay to race one class each night at MX and the gate fees are $10 for adults & ALL riders there.
You and I need to plan for one of these & ride together.
Jam would love it.

Oh yeah, #18 is a black typhoon & he killed it in the adult mini quad race at the end of the night.
However the women promoting this event kinda bent the rules a little in saying at the beginning "there were no rules"
"all you had to do was stay on the clay & cross the finish line 4 times"
3 women pretty much did donuts around the finish line & took the money. >:(
Glad I didnt pay to be in it ???

Well that sucks! That defeats the purpose of having a legitimate race. I was told awhile back about the adult mini quad races they have. I just don't think Jams clutches and other parts will hold up very long with me racing his bike lol. As for Jam, I'm positive it's something he'd love but with the new baby I can't rip and run like I want either. For him MX is more than enough right now.
