Things are starting to dry up but are still wet, my 400ex made it everywhere we wanted to go. There are some woods trails which are nice. There were cops patroling the area i got the privilege to talk to one and they said we can ride out there just park down vincent road out of sight and out of the way, because the village walk development is complaining. I personally like lehigh better but is much further.

We park in seclusion and do not get bothered. So your wife smacked you did she? spunky she is! E-mail me and i'll fill you in. They get upset here when we give away our secret riding spots. I like to share as long as your not a killer fast and loud crazy sport biker. That's why the cops were called to keep those crazy quads off of Bonita beach road. Racing up and down along side of the cars. floridasun@me.comTitle: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: dirtycruiser on March 24, 2009, 09:31:14 PM Croom up above Tampa is well worth the drive as long as you stay for the weekend. The BEST local terrain for quads and a great assortment of
riding. sand bowls, dirt, trails, deep pits with 20 to 30 foot walls to climb or ride down. There is a Best Western motel right outside the gate of Croom to stay overnight if your not a fan of camping. Just secure your quads and gear in the parking lot at night. They have had a rash of stolen things there in the past. I'd be glad to give you a tour of Bonita trails if we can agree on a weekend. Another nice place is Cook and Brown Rd, intersecting with Williams Rd. Lots of mud pits with plenty of trails. That's in North Ft Myers on the Charlotte/Lee County line. Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: JoelandNicole on March 26, 2009, 09:23:57 AM love to hear what you know. I'm not a trouble maker or someone who needs to do 150mph through the woods. in fact the more people around the less i want to go there. just looking for the quietest place i can find.

Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: dirtycruiser on April 26, 2009, 07:01:00 PM Joel...... you missed a great day of riding! actually found a deep mud pit and on my 3rd trip through, I got stuck. Turns out there was a poisonous snake about 2 feet away from me while we were winching out my Renegade. Didn't know it until a little kid there pointed it out to us after we got out. I hit a tree pretty good also but my GristleBoyz bumper saved the day. Put a major dent in the melaleuca tree though. Bars might have gotten a tad tweaked though, I'll check them out in the next couple of dayz. we had 8 quads with us today. There was a $hitload of quads out on the trails in Bonita, trucks and trailers everywhere. Luckily we didn't come across any other quads coming at us on the trails head on. we tend to fly at times on those windy trails. It's like a friggin race course on two of the trails with a mile or so of switch backs and continuos , short, tight high bank trails, one right after another.

Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: markcrain on May 22, 2009, 07:04:15 AM anyone have any input on big cypress?? is it a hassell and is it worth the hassel? Wife and i have been going to big cypress. There is a lot of slow going because it's rough. We haven't seen it all yet so still hopefull. Guess it depends on what kind of riding you like. Might be more fun once rainy season hits if you like you body water cooled. From the water line on the trees it can get deep. Been to Bonita once, lots of cool stuff but worry about legality the whole time. L-cross was fun the one time we went. It was considered dry I guess when we were there. Must be a trip when it;s considered wet. We're still searching. Might load up and go to mountains this summer. Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: Johnny Rotten on May 27, 2009, 11:07:19 AM me and a friend parked off from alabama 2 weekends ago police caught us loading up They are patrolling because of idiots racing ATVs up and down the roads there. After a month of an officer telling them to stay off the roads because they were getting complaints being called in they still continue to do it... We will never have a decent place to ride when this happens on a daily basis... Bonita will be next. Streetbikes and ATVs racing down Bonita Beach road. The complaints are getting more and more and the police present in the area is getting greater and greater. They also bought ATVs at SunSports. It's only a matter of time when there will be a big crackdown in this area. If you have an ATV please stay away from any main roads. Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: Johnny Rotten on May 27, 2009, 12:51:46 PM i live in lehigh...lots of little fun spots if you know where youre going.. Is it any safer during the week? Are they charging people with tresspassing? Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: Johnny Rotten on May 27, 2009, 03:33:10 PM when was the last time anyone was out there?? Is it any safer during the week? Are they charging people with trespassing? I gots me a warning for trespassing... But I parked in the culdesac where another deputy told me I could park. A month later a different deputy was writing parking tickets. We told him about the other deputy so he tore up the parking tickets and gave us a warning because of the big sign that said "No Trespassing". So park way down on Vincent Rd someplace. If you see any no trespassing or any no parking signs do not park there, you will get a parking ticket and if they see you you will get a trespassing warning. And a warning. There is an old lady off of Vincent who drives a Jeep Cherokee that has a serious problem with any OHV use in that area and will threaten you with everything from calling police to bodily harm. Just try to stay away from her, her property, and ignore her. The Sheriff dept. knows all about her and usually ignores her too... Other than this... Stay in the woods and away from Bonita Beach Road. The people in the gated community across the street love to complain and they will get a response from the Sheriff Dept. Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: JoelandNicole on May 27, 2009, 03:44:44 PM what about the wildlife areas? trails go right through them, can you ride in there
Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: Johnny Rotten on May 27, 2009, 03:55:33 PM what about the wildlife areas? trails go right through them, can you ride in there Just watch for signs. Anything to the east of Vincent road is pretty much off limits. There are a few signs at the northeast end that says 'No Trespassing' so don't go in there. Just stay on the well beaten paths and you shouldn't have a problem. Also the lake up front has 'No Trespassing' signs by the entrance so avoid that area. You will get your warning if caught there. The authorities are trying to cut down on the noise and complaints so there is a police presents in this area. Also commissioner Midget Judah has his nose in it too and according to him ATVs should be band from the planet... Good luck... With the bad apples ruining it for us, the odds are against us. Enjoy while you can, it's just a matter of time. Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: D33411 on May 28, 2009, 05:07:08 PM We went to Big Cyprus once. Had to go through the inspections and pay the 70 bucks and we rode around in water up to our knees for 70 percent of the time. Friend broke her running boards because there is a lot of huge holes in like rock or coral that you can't see because you are in water up to your knees. I think it is more of a swamp buggy place. They sent us a renewal letter and said because they only give out 1000 permits a year to ride there and they sold 900 some they were going to do renewals by lottery. But I bet a lot of 4 wheelers go once and never renew. I'd vote no on Big Cyprus. Dawn
Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: lswjth2 on May 28, 2009, 05:48:19 PM Try the Jetport. This is located on Tamiami trail between Miami and Naples on the north side of tamiami, you will see the Dade-Collier transition airport sign. It's 46000??(i think) acres of Miami-dade county land. This is perfectly legal...try to stay south of the airport though. On the north side that's NPS land and it's a totally different set of rules and regulations..

Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: johndoe83 on July 07, 2010, 06:33:45 PM Sounds like your in the same situation as me, I live on the east south east side, the closest place for me is L-Cross, it takes me near 2 hours just in drive time.
Unless you race mx, from the top of lake okeechobee down to the keys, there is nowhere for us to ride!!! Someone needs to wright the congress men or hold a protest. Ive been thinking of trying the protest, getting hundreds of atvs together and taking over a parking lot or showing up at the court house and demanding some type of ride area. It may work better locally to get them to allow us to ride on the roads again, they made us pay to get the green sticker, then they changed the law for riding on the roads. A big scam for money!! Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: zman03 on July 07, 2010, 08:25:02 PM Dude I hate to say it but your a couple of years late! The whole protest thing? I welcome you to try to get some support from the atv community!!!! FAT CHANCE!!!!!!!!! A spot to ride a 6 wheeler??? GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! if the guys that ride 2 and 4 wheels cant get organized I think your gonna find yourself alone in that parking lot your gonna protest in. I started a Pledge form on the open discussion forum PLEASE FILL IT OUT !!!!!! I suggest you craiglist that 6 wheeler and hope someone buys it!!!!
Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: greenmachine on July 07, 2010, 10:37:34 PM jd83, like he said, some well known members on this site set up a HUGE protest event a couple years ago. It turned into chaos. It would have been HUGE and the place it was scheduled to be at pulled out about a month before and it ended up at LCross. Glad they gave it a chance, but the thousands dropped to hundreds and it fell apart. I am sure you may be able to search and find some threads on it. We had factory support showing up, bike shops and news agencies, but when the site was cancelled from pressure it fell apart.
I would love to see someone do it again and make it as big as Dreth did, but like Zman said, most people are all talk and no show. You have to race or ride tracks or own property to get ride time. Other than that its a long drive. Motoplex is awesome, Lcross is great from what I hear, RYC is fun I hear also but seems to be for mudding only, the new player is Dirty Foot Mud Ranch and he seems to be catering to everyone like the plex and Lcross which is very smart. Make a place for all atv's not just one category if you want to survive and listen to your customers to some extent. I feel for you south florida guys, I grew up in Ft Lauderdale and we had tons of riding areas back in the 80's, but now they are all housing developments. Looks like you need to make a road trip and make the best of it. I have driven over 4hrs to the motoplex many times and have never regreted it not once. Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: johndoe83 on July 08, 2010, 12:05:03 AM Dude I hate to say it but your a couple of years late! I know!!! thats the worst part about it...lol...No matter how much time and effort I spend on it, I will more then likly be the only one in the parking lot!!! The guys that had people for the protest, Id bet the state of florida shut them down, then when people found out the venue wasnt allowing it, everyone gave up!!! WE would need like, a shock and aww tactic, like everyone gets organized, then shows up in tallahasee at the same time, but we'd have to be careful to keep it legal, or people will get arrested...lol...news crews would show, it would bring attention to the cause. but I guarantee....it would still go nowhere!!! Like I said in your, pledge thread, theyve been trying for the martin county ride area for along time, thousands of pledges, thousands donated, I even signed a form for volunteer work at the park when it opend....that was over 5 years ago.. everyone I know kew about it, people were handing them out and filling them out and turning them in......just last year I called them and asked what was going on with the ride area....the pledge was over 5 years old??? Their response was... we have the money, we have the permits, we have the go ahead, but the county just keeps putting us back hoping we will forget about it, they told me they had all my info, and would email or call me if any progress came up....havent ever heard back from them....it will never happen!!! its sad but true!!! unless you already own property, and come out of pocket for the funding, it will never happen!!! PUT THAT AD ON CRAIGSLIST!!!...seriously Im about to...it cost me over $150, and 5 hours of drive time just to ride for a few hours, NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE!!! I even tried drag racing, my quad is more then fast enough to compete with hooked up banshees and raptors and 450s, but no one shows up at the drag strip with quads anymore!!! for some odd reason theres drag strips with quads and atcs in every damn state except this one...WTF. I'm looking for a place that's good for young kids to ride in this area. Anyone have a decent spot that they can let me in on? Thanks Title: Re: where to ride in southwest florida Post by: patches206 on March 19, 2014, 09:55:54 PM When Florida Track and Trails opens

I place to ride there. Old Foeggies. And Coppers. Could anyone help a lost rider find a spot that doesn't suck near cape coral? Thanks. Glazzsherlock.

The only legal place, besides the Big Cypress Preserve. |
