Title: Moving to Broward County how far do I have to go?
Post by: jefff on January 20, 2009, 10:15:32 PM
I am moving down to Broward County from Illinois and I wanted to know how far and where do I need to go to ride?

I am looking for trail riding something flat and not too dusty.

Thanks

If you don't want dusty you have to ride in the mud, the rain or drive to Georgia. LOL

I'm sure someone from down there will chime in.

Unfortunately, there is no place to ride in Broward County.  You have to drive about 30-50 miles to reach any place with any type of trails and most of those areas are semi-legal at best.  Once you get used to the idea of driving 100-150 miles,  it gets better, the best being River Ranch or Suburban Estates, but you have to own property out there to ride, which will set you back anywhere from $1,500.00 to $10,000.00 for a lot.  We used to have a great place to ride in the Everglades but lost it this past July thanks to a bunch of mindless asswipes.   >:(  Anyway, you could have chosen better counties to live in Florida if you're into riding ATVs.

Broward?
Unfortunately you went too far south.
IMO , south florida doesnt have anywhere good to ride anymore.
Better off buying a bike ,a cruiser or crotch rocket depending on prefernce and you have endless supply roads to enjoy.
Good Luck

Only if you have a death wish.  There's also an endless supply of blue-haired knuckles controlling over-sized vehicles on that endless supply of roads.

Not enough action in golf for me unless I get in a high speed golfcart chase.
In Illinois when I wanted to go some where good I had to go 150-250 miles so that doesn't bother me.

if you don't mind driving that far, there are places to ride.  you may think about one of the florida race series, Florida Trail Riders or SSQSA.  They host mx and xc throughout the state.  there are other tracks/series around that don't travel as well including flat track.
