He obviously had moving radar, which reads speeds of vehicles going in opposite direction from him.

FHP has forward and rear looking lazer radar Its is instant on so you cant detect it till you but is caught sorry about your bad luck go pay the fine and do the school   Then slow down

It's that type of driving that gave that road the moniker of "Bloody 520."  Slow your sheet down.   >:(

Call your local ticket clinic and the worst you can expect is $300ish in court fees and no points (maybe a little more for speeds 25mph over limit). Recently paid $230 for 63 in a 40, no court, no points, no traffic school.

I'm guessing on your speed, you were 30+ mph over.  30mph and up is a mandatory court hearing now in the State of Florida.  Maximum fine is $500 not including court costs (~$75), traffic school (that the judge can send you to), 4 points and the judge can always order a license revocation .  A second ticket in this range within a year allows the judge to double the penalty.

Moving radar actually shoots two beams, one at the target and the second at the road.  The computer's math eliminates officers' vehicle speed out of the equation.  This works both going in the same direction and the opposite direction.  They can also clock two vehicles at the same time, visually assigning the faster speed to the faster moving vehicle.  Officers can also activate the radar as your passing eliminating radar detectors out of the equation.  When your detector goes off, you're already toast.

What happens in court is largely dependent on the county you received the ticket in, your driving record and your attitude.

Good luck!

Dave

Best help I can offer is this:

Plan your time, leave your starting point with time to spare to make it to the destination.  Enjoy the drive.

Also, notice something.  A lot of the people that may pass you, you catch up to at the traffic lights!  It always makes me laugh.

yea, if i pass someone and they catch me at a light, i feel like an ass. i get passed and catch people more often then the other way around though. i think its hilarious. the real funny thing is seeing people that just hauled ass around you pulled over. i just point and laugh every time.

I know you never said anything about getting out of a fine or anything else. You're just asking for advice for what is going to happen hopefully. If you are looking to get out of it PAY UP! Ya screwed up and got caught. If ya can's do the time don't so the crime!  ;)  Not a bad idea to talk to a lawyer so the court doesn't nail ya to a cross. They like to do that if you have no legal representation. Kinda like a hospital bill with insurance vs. bill without insurance!

The court "crap" is required because of how fast you were going over the speed limit. I believe you could have been arrested actually if the cop wanted to. I could be wrong but consider yourself lucky. And as far as what to expect, that's easy to explain. Be ready to hand over a bunch of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to the courts and then more $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to your insurance company.

I would get a ticket lawyer. He/she will negotiate the fine and penalty down for you. The lawyer will also go to court for you. You don't have to do anything but pay them their fee and what ever the court cost and ticket amount. It's definitely worth it. Without a lawyer you don't stand a chance. They will hit you with the maximum fine and penalty.

if i take the safety course the points will be removed right? so why would my insurance go up? what is a ticket lawyer i mean $500 for a ticket can they really negotiate it down that much i mean if it really saves some money i could get one but i just dont see what the big deal is its a ticket i wasnt racing or weaving in and out of traffic hell there was no traffic i just dont wanna get shocked soon as i walk in

the reason your insurance will go up is cause they can do that. they want more money. ill ride down there with you on your court day and drive your car home when they suspend your license.  ;)

your best option is to elect driving school, pay the reduced fine and go on. your insurance will not increase as long as you elect school, it will go inas a no contest plea, and will have no pointgs on your record. my brother is a traffic atty in broward and based upon the speed you were going that would be your best option.

elect school through the court system.

Dude, 95 mph? I could see 10 over the speed limit but I believe 95 mph is a little rediculous. No, it's real rediculous. That's wreckless endangerment and in my opinion thoughtless. If I was the judge I'd suspend your license for at least 6 months so you'd think before you did it again. You act like this is no big deal and your the victim. Luckily you didn't kill somebody in your selfish trip to look at a truck.

Thats not true.
I had to go to court for a 33 over (limit dropped from 60 to 40 for a bridge and didnt notice) with no lawyer and the judge gave me the minimum $303 fine and 4 hour traffic school. I had no points or tickets, first time getting pulled over, I was straight up and honest with the judge and admitted i was wrong and made a mistake. Max penalty and fine was $500 and i believe they could have suspended my license.

Dude! If this is not your first time for same or similar DANGEROUS deed you NEED to do more than just pay a fine! It's obvious that you haven't learned from the first ticket maybe you would learn form license suspension??? I would hope so! I find it really hard to believe that any speed limit drops from 60 to 40 with no advance warning. Heck even in Waldo the speed is clearly posted and steps down by 5-10 miles an hour gradually. You need to learn to pay ATTENTION! A $300 ticket would get most responsible drivers attention but it sure hasn't seemed to get yours. I hope you learn your lesson before you injure or kill yourself or worse an innocent driver in your way!

If you were talking to me it was my first timed pulled over, first ticket. Ive since slowed it down, and havent been pulled over since.
I was just saying i was straight up and honest with the judge and he took notice.

Im not the one doing 93 in a 60 if you got us 2 mixed up??

Hire your local ticket defense lawyer and be done with it, no worries and no court appearance because he goes to court for you. You need to know nothing more.

they have radars in the car and if he has got ur speed on the radar for sure its pointless to fight it in taffic court i would just pay the ticket

Wrong, again. Get a ticket attorney and you'll definitely do better than simply paying the fine, etc..
