I want to bring my boys up there to BIG SCRUBB OR croom,they are10 trhru 12 yrs old
,they ride on my   polaris 330 s.( they have been riding them for 2 yrs now)
they have all gear.
what else do i need for them to ride.
rider cert?
are they going to say the bikes are to big for them etc.

croom does not enforce anything but no 2-up riding

to register you need your florida registration of the bike or bill of sale.

At Big Scrub they would need the ATV certification, and you would need to purchase a $10/3 day pass for each driver.  They would also have to wear helmets at all times.  There is currently no law or regulation regarding the size of the ATV vs. the age of the driver.

No passengers allowed unless manufacturer tags specify passengers are allowed.

You need to have the ATV's registered.

You must stay on the designated trails with the ATV's.

my buddy called up there thay said the kids have to ride whaeverthe  bike rating states on the sticker.
if that were the case they are supoosed to be riding little 50s
thats not gonna happen,(they are on 250 and 330s)
just dont want to go up 5 hrs to get turned away,
has anyone done the childrens saftey corse?
do they make you use no more than a 50cc atv/
i could borrow on a 70 for the test but not a 50cc

This is TOTALLY WRONG and not true.  There are no laws or regulations on the books in Florida, or Federally for that matter that mandate you to follow the manufacturers recommendations.  If that were the case, then why did they not arrest or ticket us last weekend when we had several kids under 16 on Raptor 700's and Outlander 800's in the Ocala National Forest?  They stopped us to check for the ATV certifications on the kids, but that was all that was discussed.

Believe what you want, but please don't stop going to the National Forest based on a phone call a buddy made.  If they cannot show it to you in a legal format, it's just not true.

Last time I went to ONF they basicilly told me to not come back until I had a quieter muffler put on my bike.  My HMF system has a spark arrestor but they said it was too loud.  The ranger said next time I come back he told me to be ready for a DB check.  He said all trailhead rangers will have db meters soon. Also said if your tires have more than a 1" of tread depth you wont be allowed on the trails.  Not to sure if he was having a bad day or what but I am not making this up.  I am going to Croom to avoid a possible hassle.

As far as the Croom goes one has to purchase a sticker. Bring along your title and registration. Cost is $50 per year per vehicle. Two up riding is allowed as long as the ATV is made for two riders. No two up riding on motorcycles. Helmets are required for everyone.
 I havn't been to Big Scrub in awhile. The campgroud there was nice enuff. No running generators after ten pm or before six seemed logical, but then there's always someone who just has to work on thier machine and start it up in the middle of the night. Same at the Croom. Always someone that has to ride to the bathrooms at two am!!! I read here now one has to purchase forest use sticker. Makes sence to support those who are there to protect us, right? I'm all for enforcing the noise level on machines! Both in the OCF and the Croom. Machines that are too loud should be confined to one area and not allowed to terrorize other users or wildlife.
