You're gonna want long travel suspension, good handle bars, and some nerf bars. Lighter tires are good, and you should have full riding gear. Go to an mx track to get used to jumping before trying out a ramp.

A helmet is a must no matter what. Get used to motocross before even attempting any freestyle. Like they said, start off small and work your way up. Also, health insurance is a must just in case.
