My 03 was gps'd in the mid 70's with a yoshi pipe, and a +1000 rev box.Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: TRX450R_Racer on November 12, 2008, 03:50:33 PM He said in an 1/8 mile. You were probably wide open a lot longer than an 1/8th mile.
Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: svtbolt04 on November 12, 2008, 03:53:45 PM Just to give you an idea of what a 450 with a pipe can do, I ran my YFZ on the 1/8th in Immokolee and got a 9.3 at 72.
But you can have that with some extensive engine mods... but your bike wont be the same for off road anymore. Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: Da_Mtg_Man on November 12, 2008, 06:26:35 PM It would also help to take a dump just prior to your race. Every little bit of weight loss helps. ;D
Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: crom A zone on November 12, 2008, 06:52:11 PM that is true i did 63 with stock pipe i got full system now so i will let you all no how it runs after that. i am getting cams, valves, springs, and port and polish the head for the next step.

If you're going to pull the head, you might as well put in a higher compression piston. You are 3/4 of the way there already. If you don't want to run race gas stay at 12:1. Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: crom A zone on November 12, 2008, 07:21:47 PM i do wanna run race gas i was thinkin pull the head now and leaving rest alone for a lil because i really wanna run the 470 stroker kit with 15:1 comp piston and nos on it when i am finshed i gotta do more to the sus before i can evan start to do that. my freind morks for machine shop so he is gonna do my porting and valves for me

Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: PLEDGER#76 on November 13, 2008, 10:46:01 AM If you are running stock suspension take all the rebound and all the preload off of the rear shock might make it a little softer and suck up some of that energy when you are launching it. PRACTICE your starts and you will see improvement for sure.

Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: TRX450R_Racer on November 13, 2008, 12:40:29 PM It's a Z400 with a big bore kit. I would guess it still has a carb.
Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: Anoriginal on November 13, 2008, 03:28:46 PM For some reason I thought it was a new 450.

The only mod that I had to do to run alcohol was to buy a Rhino :T. that bed will hold a large cooler with plenty of alcohol for a long day of idiot watching. Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: PLEDGER#76 on November 13, 2008, 06:24:04 PM One other bit to help in the suspension dept. Take a tie down strap or ratchet strap and use it to compress your front suspension all the way down.
Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: crom A zone on November 17, 2008, 11:35:57 AM went out sat night i was the only atv out there lol. i was runnin consetint 65/68mph in 1/8th mile now. rec time .780/.890 (so i need to work on that) and 9.992/10.121 time. I think my gears are still wronge but i am gonna tune it up and see what else i can do. i no its still slow but its getting up to speed now.
Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: snowmanzz13 on November 17, 2008, 06:31:24 PM man, whats going on that you picked up so little from changin to a full exhaust system? i would think you would pick up more? what gear are you in when you go through the traps at the big end?
Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: crom A zone on November 17, 2008, 06:43:54 PM 4th and its not wound out i need dif gears
Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: snowmanzz13 on November 17, 2008, 06:57:03 PM oh man, five speed or six? you should be going through in top gear, atleast thats the way i have always done it, i usually hit 6th right at the stripe an just try to run out 5th
Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: crom A zone on November 17, 2008, 07:13:09 PM its 5 speed i got stock rear but i went one down in the front it gave me more of the line but seems like my top end is gone.
Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: klutchbuster400 on November 17, 2008, 07:48:42 PM its 5 speed i got stock rear but i went one down in the front it gave me more of the line but seems like my top end is gone. Yeah, a bottem end sprocket will take off alot of top end. I currently run a 13 on my mx, but I think I'm gonna go back to the 14 because my 13 revs out the quad too quick, I find myself in 5th gear, where as with a 14 I am in 3rd gear producing more power.Title: Re: drag z in progress Post by: crom A zone on November 17, 2008, 07:59:59 PM yea i like the 13th when i am trail/rec riding ats alot of fun just seems i loose alot of top end
