Ok here goes....

The wife and I rolled our Polaris Rzr last weekend so we have to replace/fix the roll cage.

I have a friend that has an aluminum fab shop. This is what he does every day for a living. He said that our roll cage is made out of tubing and as we know it is not very strong. He said that he has a machine that he can bend aluminum schedule 40 pipe with. The pipe is heavier duty than the tubing. How do you think the schedule 40 aluminum will compare to our cheesy tubing roll cage? He said he could make a bad azz roll cage for about $1200 out of aluminum.

Please reply easy on me as I am only asking a question here.

My T-top on the boat is sch 40. IT HAS A TOWER & will support up to 3 people. The stress is on the legs that are 3" & takes a pounding but it is also married to the console in several areas. Plus Im not relying on it to save my head. If your looking for cool the allu (much softer than steel)looks sharp,safety..........go with steel. It would be more forgiving as well. I have steel on both Rhinos and they take a beating from rolling to hitting branches.

Wouldnt want to wreck again & blow $1200

If your buddy can build the $1200 like that with allot of cross bracing & support it looks like it would hold up. Need to find a forum where they race those & ask ones with experience of rolling a bunch. I may be wrong about aluminum :o

Wasnt driving like a nut the wife and I were racing it when it happened.

Back in the 80's Porsche was building its 935 racer to IMSA specs with a 1.75 tube rollcage and frame. If I remember right these cars were capable of 190mph on most tracks here and over 200mph at Le Mans on the Mulsanne straight. If it is braced off in the critical areas it will be fine for what you are doing. If you (or the wife) roll it over again with the new cage it shouldn't bend it. That rollover wasn't bad. I think that what Polaris put on it is a little weak and not braced sufficiently. I think 3 inch would be overkill considering my Mustang road racer uses 2 inch steel tubing. Just my 2 cents.

I wouldnt do it. Even if you brace it enough and make it bulletproof, it would probably fail at the mounting point where the steel frame and aluminum cage bolted together.

Here ya go, this one even bolts to the rear and protects the plastic. I will look for others. $895

Prerunner cage.

Whatever the size is of that prerunner cage would be good. If you decide to do it in aluminum bracing it like that prerunner cage is the way to go. If that stock cage had the diagonals and corners welded into like that one it wouldn't have tweaked on your rollover.
