Title: Wife VS RAPTOR Question Post by: Pat on June 04, 2005, 08:32:31 PM My wife loves the look of the Raptor 350 and we're looking to purchase her one. She has years of experience riding a quad but no experience riding a quad with a manual clutch. I have a YFZ 450 and don't want her to learn on it for fear of her getting hurt. My question is...is the Raptor 350 a good bike for my wife to learn the use of a manual clutch. She's on the smaller side at 5'3" 116lbs.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions, Pat Title: Re: Wife VS RAPTOR Question Post by: klutchbuster400 on June 04, 2005, 08:49:16 PM it is a really good bike 2 learn on. my warrior is my first clutch bike and the rappy 350 is the exact same thing just diffrent plastics so you should be ok ;)

Title: Re: Wife VS RAPTOR Question Post by: Mrs.Nightbreed on June 05, 2005, 08:27:53 AM She'll be fine ;D Don't worry so much. Us little people can do better than you think. ;) I started on a Honda 250R last year and I am 5'1 and 110. I rode a 250R with a 330 in it at the track last night and came out unscathed......
She might be pretty comfortable on your YFZ though. They are very smooth bikes too. I would have her put around on yours to make sure she even want to deal with a clutch before spendin the money on a new one. The Raptor 350 is a good bike to start. I have seen a few of them out at MX tracks with the newer riders and they do ok, even stock. I think she will like it. if she likes it too much though you might end up having to move to something bigger soon. :) Title: Re: Wife VS RAPTOR Question Post by: AintSkeered on June 05, 2005, 08:34:05 AM My 13 y.o. does great on it. She'll love it and it has reverse. Remember, it's definitely no fun in the mud because of only a 4 inches ground clearance.

and thats 4.9 in of ground clearance >:( lol Title: Re: Wife VS RAPTOR Question Post by: LakeMaryKid on June 05, 2005, 04:02:39 PM i would maybe say step it up to a z400/kfx400/dvx400. The reason i say this is she may get bored of the power. The warrior is an old bike and somewhat outdated. Or you could look into the 400ex but it is the same price as a Z/KFX/DVX yet no upgrade to the shocks. The Z/KFX/DVX is somewhat tippy along with the raptor. But id say let her test the warrior Z/KFX/DVX and 400ex and see which she likes.

Title: Re: Wife VS RAPTOR Question Post by: MxRacingChick21 on June 06, 2005, 10:38:23 AM I first learned how to ride with a clutch on z400 (which is for sale if you are interested) but now less than a year later I have been racing a yfz 450 with no problem. When I first got my z I didn't really care how fast it went or if I could do wheelies or even if i could keep up with the guys but that quickly changed. Now I just want to go faster and have more power. Your wife might be the same way after getting use to a raptor 350. If I were you I would get her something like a z that has more power and she would be less likely to "grow" out of.
Title: Re: Wife VS RAPTOR Question Post by: RedPred05 on June 06, 2005, 11:38:56 AM I would recomend the z400/kfx400 over the yamaha. The yamaha is to outdated. Your wife will learn fine on a z400 and the power will keep her happy. If you purchase the 350, well I hope you like it, cause if your wife is like mine, as soon as she gets used to the 350 she will want more. You will be on the Raptor and she will be running laps around you on your yfz. :D

I agree because i had a warrior and it was great but then i wanted to upgrade to the 400's and dont think its cause im big because im 13 |
