Title: ims quick fill gas systems
Post by: Jacob Fort on September 14, 2008, 03:07:15 PM
hows it going,

i got some questions for anybody who has this fueling system or other systems like this one.

1. do you need to buy a new gas tank from them or can i install the dry break cap on my current tank?

2. do you even need the dry break cap to have the quick fill gas can, (would it still quickly fill my gas tank without it).

3. what is the "dry break probe" and does that only work with the "dry break cap"?

thanks,

you have to buy a new tank.the tank, receiver, cap and dump can are all sold separately about 700 bucks for all of it.you need everything for it to work.

If money is no problem I say go for it. But I always ran an oversize acerbis tank and never had to refuel during a race..

its not the money its just im not going to spend $700 when i can get another brand for 1/2 to a quarter as much, eventually a bigger tank will come too and im sure ill eventually be running that ims system. i have my eyes on a acerbis.

Dude! I was going to get all that and Pledger talked sense into me. Take some good passed on advice, you'll never need it. Just get the oversized tank and use the regular screw cap.

I have run a full GNCC race at skull lake and still had fuel left over. I have had the acerbis and the IMS on a yfz450 and like the acerbis the best, but im not a fast young rider like you im old and washed up.

Like Jen said, it's about $700 for all that.
Jacob, you can do a lot with $700bucks and don't need that system. I know it looks really cool and all, but it's not worth it. Just having the larger tank will be enough. I think they are 4.1 gal
It's your money, I know, but you'll spend that in fuel getting to and from the events this season.
