Title: Border Patrol on the Mexico Border
Post by: MudMan on July 31, 2008, 09:24:54 AM
So I might be getting a job offer soon (within the next month) to go work as  Border Patrol Agent on the Mexican border.  Anyone have any inside information on this job or opinions one way or the other ?  The job would fall under the Department of Homeland Security so I'm very interested to say the least.  I work with the Department of Corrections right now so I'm very bored and looking to step it up a notch.  I don't know much about the agency so I figured someone around here might know something about something.

I don't know a thing about the job but, I wish you all the luck in the world. Be safe!

Thanks....appreciate it.

They'll never have enough agents out there to stop the illegals from getting in but screw it, I want a piece of the action.  Atleast I can do my part.

Good luck on that. I hope you get it. Do you remember the 2 Border Patrol guys that chased down and shot a smuggler? This scum was always doing something on the border. One day they caught him, he ran away, they shot him. (still alive). He sued the agents and now they are in prison for violating his rights. What a croc of schitt.

Again the right wing liberals running the security of this country. Obama would offer the guy amnesty and a position on his Cabinet. >:(

my best friend does it. You are going to live in the middle of nowhere or live in a big city like Phoenix and have to drive 1-2 hours to work. My friend just rents a realllllly small apartment for 400$ a month and if he works a double he will stay there and any other time he just goes home. The school is a joke according to him but he was a Marine and he did say that a lot of guys failed because they couldnt run. Not every single border patrol agent carries a weapon. The money is good if you are single because you can work a lot of overtime if you want. Oh yeah and brush up on your spanish.

A good friend of mine works for the border patrol in Arizona.  He has a lot of stories... it is just jaw drooping how much tax payer money is paying for illegals.  Be prepared to pick up the same group of people 2 or 3 times in a day and take them back to Mexico.  It is not all fun... his partner got hit by a rock (about 10" in diameter) went through the windshield at about 40mph and killed him.  Now if a Mexican has a rock in his hand it is considered a deadly weapon.  (at least in that department)

I don't mind living in the middle of nowhere.  It's only a 2-year commitment on the border and then my probation will be up and I can transfer or go into a specialty unit.  I run everyday so that won't be an issue.  Hopefully I'll get to do a lot of running while I'm chasing down these bastards. All the border patrol agents for the job I applied for carry a weapon.  Half the time you are working alone on the border miles from any help so you are definitely carrying lol. Also, there is a difference between border patrol agent and border patrol officer (the latter are the ones that work at the checkstations, ports, airports, etc.)  They may not all carry weapons.  I will be well armed.

Spanish is a requirement now.  You have to stay after basic and go through a 200-hour or something spanish academy.  You don't have to be fluent in spanish before the academy though.  I already took the artificial language exam which measure your ability to learn spanish.

I'm getting excited talking about it lol

Oh I hear yea BUT in todays time they seem to have more rights than we do.  And they also know every rule that the Border Patrol has to stop pursuit (ie: speed excessive of 90MPH)

A police officer told me, if and when, in a predicament like that, make sure there's only one side to the argument in case it goes to court.

no better way to make it one sided than to knock off the other side.

thats how it should be. feed the buzzards.

You must mean Left wing liberals or right wing conservatives.  If I am not mistaken up to less than 2 years ago we had a republican House and Senate and we still have a republican president.   Sooner or later you'll learn not to blame it all on the democrats.

By the way good luck on the new job Mudman  :ThumbsUp.gif

You don't have to move that often.  You are assigned to the Southwestern Border for two years (you are on probation for two years anyways). After your two years, you can apply for a transfer or a specialty unit.  Two years is a small sacrifice to make to secure a good career.

My Honda will be coming along.  I'll find a place (or lake) to ride it in.

one story my friend told me about was when he got the bronco stuck after a flash flood (which basically is everytime it rains in Arizona) definitely a different style of ridding LOL He drove through a small creek and the only way back was through it again he said it looked no different... well it was like quick sand he showed pics of it... after it dried up the bronco was buried up to the mirrors LOL and bone dry.

Fish, don't get sucked into helping political dinosaurs hijack this guy's thread. Their tired old opinions are no longer getting the responses nor support that they used too, just a few years ago.
