Title: Anyone know about PA systems? Post by: Fast66071 on July 15, 2008, 07:32:01 PM Does anyone know anything about PA systems, how to wire them, etc?
The PA system at Thunderbowl is in serious need of upgrading and I was hoping someone on here knows more about them than I do. Let me know Title: Re: Anyone know about PA systems? Post by: stgsali on July 20, 2008, 09:18:35 AM I know someone with a megaphone!! What do you need to have done? Run new cable or use the existing ones? New speakers need to be put up? I know a little about audio equipment. Do you have a new amp for it? I believe that those systems run on a coaxial cable. if that is the case you should be able to use the existing cable unless the cables have been spliced together multiple time which will de-gradate the signal making it to the PA speakers. If I can help I'll do what I can. If you have all new equipment or are trying to repair what is there, I'll do what I can. :)

Title: Re: Anyone know about PA systems? Post by: yfz450runner on July 20, 2008, 11:29:43 AM Most likly you are using a 70V or 100V system. You will need and impiedence meter to measer the speakers on the existing system to see if they are working and to see if all are actually conected. when you hook up the new amp set it to 70V or 100V and make sure each speaker "can" is set to the same voltage rating IE 70 v or 100V.you can use 14 guage or 12 guage to replace the wire with new wire. the wireless you have will be conected to the back of the system with all 3 wires. your amp should have an input on the back that says MIC and LINE LEVEL. connect the mic to the MIC. if there is an XLR input then just connect it. if there is not then you will have to cut the wire and connect it PIN 2 is red and hot, PIN 3 is black and neg, PIN 1 is shield bare wire. hope this helps. pm me if you need any other help. carmine

When it comes time to do the work, I will get a man lift out there. Title: Re: Anyone know about PA systems? Post by: stgsali on July 20, 2008, 09:10:20 PM Just let me know when you get it together and I will do what I can. I'm sure we can get it done. Plus, I can be available during the week. Whatever will be the easiest.
