Title: How 'Bout Those Rays?!?!
Post by: digginfool on July 01, 2008, 10:23:35 PM
Just finished watching the Rays kick Boston's butt again.  They are hot!  Any bets on who's going to the Series for the AL?

I hope they don't do anything.  It's gonna drive me crazy to see Rays "fans" if they do.

I am happy for them. They are a "for real" team. A complete team effort. I have been a Rays fan since the beginning. So I'm pulling for them!

I think it would be awesome to see the Rays and Marlins in the Series.  Marlins have a long way to go but it's not inconceivable.  Hopefully, the Rays won't pull an A-Rod and choke in October.

Post by: Da_Mtg_Man on July 01, 2008, 11:04:20 PM
As long as they stay healthy then they won't choke.
I was at the game last night and there were as many if not more Rays fans than Bo Sox fans. That was great to see.
Now, we're 2 1/2 games ahead of Boston. How freakin cool is that? Go Rays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate those rays, they embarrased my Marlins. Im glad they beat the Sox though because im not a Sox fan either. If the Marlins dont make it no where the rays will eventually be my next team to go for due to being in Florida.

Rays won last night?  Awesome!!  They were behind 4-1 I think top of the 6th and I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore so I didn't see the end.  I just looked at the scores; figures the bottom of the seventh would be where all the action was.  Anyway, Rays are hot right now!

Yeah, we had a 6 run 7th inning to make it 7-4 then the sox scored 2 more but Wheeler shut'm down.

I am routing for the Rays.  Would love to see them win the division that has been sewed up by Bos or NY for a many of years.

they swept almost every team they played. they swept the marlins, yankees and red sox and thats only off the top of my head im sure they swept more than that.

Well, It's the bottom of the 7th and we have just put one of the biggest ass whoopins on the Bo Sox that they have ever had in a series. In the last 4 games we have scored 38 runs to their 5. What a schlackin' These Rays are just on fire.

I'll tear whatever hair I have left out if they blow this.    ;)   I hope they can hang in there and win one more.  One thing for sure, it's going to end in Tampa.  It would be a shame to let the home town down.

Title: Re: How 'Bout Those Rays?!?!

I tried to watch the last 2 innings that took 2 hours to play, how ficken boring can you get. Baseball is a little girls sport, I rather watch golf, ping pong, Frisbee throwing, dog gymnastics, underwater basketweaving and a spelling bee before that garbage.
Sorry guy's....... :(

I hope the Rays win the World series.  Theya re dominating in the toughest division so I can see it happening.  THey better start changing those welcome to Tampa signs to say Welcome to Tampa, superbowl champions, stanley cup champions, world series champions.

Title: Re: How 'Bout Those Rays?!?!
Post by: mrbones on October 17, 2008, 01:29:05 PM
How could anybody think a 7-0 comeback in the last part of the game in the ALCS boring? This was baseball at its best. Too bad we were the losing team this time. I needed a stiff drink after watching this one to calm me down.

I knew Boston was never out. They have had some of the best comeback in history. But the Rays will prevail! I look forward to watching Saturday's game.

Post by: trx#9 on October 17, 2008, 03:03:15 PM
I hope the Ray's do well too, it's good for economy of tampa-st. pete. It's just to slow of a sport for me to watch, must be my racing blood. ;)

Title: Re: How 'Bout Those Rays?!?!

I hear ya. I honestly couldn't watch it during the season because I felt the same way. But, I love playoffs!

Title: Re: How 'Bout Those Rays?!?!
Post by: Team Alba Z400 Rider 43 on October 18, 2008, 01:37:36 AM
I agree with the sport being to slow. I remember when I was a little kid in the early 90's games would take maybe 2 hours. Now there 3 and a half hours or more! But the post season is pretty exciting to me. I've taken a ton of ridicule over the years for supporting the rays so I hope they can pull it off, they sure do deserve it! I wish ol Madden woulda left kazmir in a tad longer. I wish upton would have caught that fly ball, I wish Longoria wouldn't have thrown a bad ball to Pena. Madden should get manager of the year but he sure managed himself right out of that game.

Edit- He should have also pulled balfour and wheeler sooner too. He usually does, he had me goin nuts lastnight.

Title: Re: How 'Bout Those Rays?!?!

Yeah, I don't know why he left them in that long either. Boston's bats got so hot I don't think it would've mattered.

HOOO-YAH!!  Way to go Rays!!  Thanks for the nail-biting 8th, though.   :o  Now the big question is can they man-handle Philly the way the did the Bo-Sox?  Oh yeah, and do it without all the drama!   :D

The last inning all the cheering and cow bells and saying 2 more outs for the rays going to the world series, 1 more out...  I was so nervous and anxious as soon as they won i jumped out of bed and started cheering.  It was a good night both my teams won the Bucs and the Rays.  Now if only the Lightning could win some games

Title: Re: How 'Bout Those Rays?!?!
Post by: Team Alba Z400 Rider 43 on October 20, 2008, 07:29:32 PM
It was such a great game. Garza pitched excellent as well as the bullpen. Aint it great to rub it into the Red Sox fans, who i find to be the most annoying and cocky baseball fans of them all. Pretty funny how a team with a 144 mil salary (Sox) loses to a team with a 44 mil salary (Rays).

The Ray's better not party to much or there going to lose there first game against Philly like they did against the Sox's. Alcohol canl effect your coordination for 3 to 5  day's after drinking.

nope $380 a ticket times four.  Im sure there worth $750 now but my kids would just be devastated if I sold the tickets.
what gets me is I got the tickets in hand today and face value printed on the ticket is $225 >:( but b/c its the world series the tickets have been jacked up.   But its all about my kids and memories ;D

the rays its just amazing for the 10 years being a team or w/e they were last place I think for 9 years now they are 1st and have the lowest salary out of all the teams.  I always like seeing the underdogs win.  i cant wait for the game tonight.  last night man they were throwin some fast pitches and then what was up with all of those balls hittin the dirty

4th lowest actually.

27 Devil Rays $44,936,263
28 Nationals $39,811,000
29 Pirates $39,162,008
30 Marlins $35,544,833

I'm not a Rays fan but I'm pulling for them to win either way. They are still an underdog to me

Eeew. Last night's game was ugly. Even the Phillies pitcher got a home run. The last time a pitcher got a HR in the World Series was in 1974. I think I need a pep talk from Joe Maddon.

It's a mixture of things. First of all, The Rays have proven all year that they are a MUCH better team than the Phillies. When they are on they are unbeatable by any team in MLB. The AL East was the toughest division of both leagues and we conquered.
The Umps just plain suck, They have made BAD calls all series, Granted, they are making bad calls against both teams but those missed calls kill a teams morale.
The cold is killing them, Longo and Pena need to get out of their slump and Aki needs to clear his head from his errors last night. If they have their MOJO tonight then we will win the series at home.

                                                                    GO RAYS!!!!!!!!!!!

It would help if the freaking umps would make the right calls. That 2nd to last pitch to Navi was ball 4 and he called it a strike. Seems to me like someone doesn't want to have a true worst to first team.

So what you guys think about this suspendment? First game in world series history to get stopped like that. Allot of ticked off fans imo. But i mean when its raining and the windchill is 31 its kinda like ok..yeah this is crazy. But dont you find it odd that they stopped it right when it was tied even knowing that they could had stopped it before that tying run and let philly win?

LOL also did you guys hear that the hotel tampa was staying in was booked after they left so the have to drive like 30min away to find a hotel? Its so funny im watching the guys on espn right now sitting in a dugout because their desk  is soaked and the skybox isnt safe to be in with the wind. So funny.

What horrible weather! You got to give Upton and Pena all the credit and respect they deserve for scoring in those conditions. Just when Joe Buck got done saying the field was in too poor condition to run the bases, Upton takes off and steals 2nd. Then Pena finally gets a hit. They saved the series. Obviously the decision to suspend the game was a lot easier to make with the score tied. It would have been a complete injustice to end the game, and the series, after 6 1/2 innings. I wouldn't want to win like that either. The weather up there in Philly today looks worse! We will just have to wait and see what happens.

Well, all I've got to say is....

Son of a beeeeeyyaaatch!!  I guess it happens all the time (Yankees are the best example); the tools that seem to get a team to The Series fall to the side.  Not to blame just these guys but where was Evan's bat?  What happened to the pitching staff, especially Kasmir and Garza?  Even Balfour seemed to struggle.  What's with the heroics in the 8th, sending the runner home, falling for the faked throw to 1st?  Christ, we use that tactic on my Little League team that I coach and it rarely fakes the kids out.  Oh well, like you said above, it was a good run.  At least I called the Rays to The Series on July 1!  They have talent and they still have next year.  Go Rays!

Title: Re: How 'Bout Those Rays?!?!

I have been a die hard rays fan since the beginning.  In my opinion, I think the Phillies had a good amount of time to send the scouts out to watch the Red Sox/ Rays series and I have to give them credit. Chuck Lamar the original Rays manager is one of the scouts for the Phils.  He drafted many of our players and knows the team. They disected the rays in every way.  They knew how to pitch to Pena and Longoria and shut down thier pitching.  The Rays obviously throughout the season showed they were a better team than the way they played the series.  I am so pissed at ESPN and the rest rest of the hollywood A-holes that won't give the rays credit.  Jokes like "I have been a Rays fan all my life since June" or "it looks like the the Rays and Phils in the series, Not that the people in Tampa care"  I was so pissed off.  The Rays did a great accomplishment even though they lost the series and did it with team work and mangers not counting on over-paid players for the hits.  It took us a while to get where we are and sportscasters should give credit where credit is due.  Good job boys of summer and we all look forward to the 09 season.
