Title: RHINO vs. RZR
Post by: MudMan on June 25, 2008, 11:59:44 AM
Thoughts, opinions, biases......all are welcome.   And it doesnt just have to be the Rhino.  It could be the Ranger or the Teryx as well.  The Rhino just seems bigger and more mud capable. The RZR seems faster and smaller and more trail capable.  What else ????

Rzr is much better than the rhino in the mud.  If space is an issue with your tow vehicle go with the rzr.

I own a rzr and a friend has/had a rhino.  We used the rhino out on the trails all the time.  Although now that same friend owns a Rzr and he is selling the rhino  ;)

Really depends on what you want to do with it.  For my situation I had to get two sport quads and a sxs in my raptor with a 8 1/2 x 12 garage.  The Rzr meets that criteria.  Also we do a lot of trail riding and with the wife and an 8 year old daughter the Rzr met the criteria again.  We will not even go into the which is faster, smoother etc. The Rzr is a great investment.

The Big Red! Id wait out and see what the Honda is gonna be like. It looks a tad ugly but its probably the best built one by far.

IMO...RZR's are fast and handle great, ride great too....I have seen them do great in the mud as well.

That being said we decided on a Rhino...

It does "almost" as well in every arena...but it burns less gas, has more aftermarket parts (at the time), has a higher air intake (without snorkle)...and you sit higher (without a liftkit) in areas that have a bunch of water crosssings.....Plus it has MUCH more cargo room for coolers, gear, and gas cans...if you are doing anything but pure mud blasting .....

I don't have any idea on the Terrex or Big Red...

Comparing the two is not even fair. They are like apples and oranges. I have a Rhino and it can do things for me that a razor could never do. The razor is a hi performance SXS and as of now the only one in the class.
If I were buying a new one today, based on my uses, it would be another Rhino.

I have seen both run and think the rzr is superior stock vs stock unless room is an issue.  Best upgrade for either one would be a good winch.  Tim had to winch an rzr out of a small mud hole with his can am.  We had to get a polaris 700 stuck to use as an anchor and the winch didn't like dragging the rzr out.  One of my friends in oklahoma buried a rhino and burned up a 3000lb winch trying to get it out.  Took a ford superduty to get the job done.
Just my 2cents.
On another note, there are rumors floating around about artic cat putting their 950cc in a sxs.  More power then the rzr with the room of a rhino.  That sounds like the best of both worlds.
