Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: FastestCub305 on May 29, 2008, 05:57:14 PM sp ypur going to remove the airbox and connet the snorkel to the carb?
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: dj_pizzim on May 29, 2008, 06:36:41 PM remember the airbox acts as the last stop before the motor so if water goes down the snorkels it can pool up in the box a little before going in the motor. I know people have done it with no problems. It a matter of choice really
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: TRX450R_Racer on May 29, 2008, 06:44:02 PM You can add a trap to the snorkle like in the drain for a sink.
I thought I wasn't going to be able to help because you asked for the smart people. Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: brocker on May 29, 2008, 07:07:48 PM Won't that screw up your jetting by running a full open air filter?
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: grizzlyranger on May 29, 2008, 07:16:11 PM i dont know about the jettin but i know somebody did the same thing on a rincon and it works perfect and this guy water rides all the time.
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: crom A zone on May 29, 2008, 07:29:53 PM all u have to do about the jetting is open up the fuel now i am at a 135 main jet i would prob be up around a 155 to 170 main jet its a crazy jump but its gotta be equle with how much fuel u have going in but i herd the power incres from able to breath more is crazy good it just burns alot more fuel faster so no more long trail rides just did not no if anyone on here has it done. did no no if i had to run i big pipe to small one for like a holding tank for air. and yes all of u are smart that posted up here keep them coming thank you
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: FastestCub305 on May 29, 2008, 07:39:16 PM opening up your airbox aint going to make that big difference in how much your gas lasts.
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: crom A zone on May 29, 2008, 07:59:46 PM when u gotta let more air and fuel in it does
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: JackL on May 29, 2008, 08:44:02 PM I think if you use silicone grease on the lids mating surface everything will be ok without all the hassle. ;)
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: Da_Mtg_Man on May 29, 2008, 08:51:34 PM I think if you use silicone grease on the lids mating surface everything will be ok without all the hassle. ;) Thats what I was gonna say. I just take marine grease and fill the little gap all the way around the lid of the airbox and you're good to go Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: crom A zone on May 29, 2008, 09:01:54 PM now thats not like the gasket maker thats just regular grease
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: Da_Mtg_Man on May 29, 2008, 09:04:58 PM I just use regular marine grease.
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: Joedirt on May 29, 2008, 10:48:30 PM I have alway used clear window silicone on the lip of the airbox....gloop in on let it dry while clamped in place and you have a peelable gasket..2.99 a tube
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: MudMan on May 30, 2008, 08:52:01 AM I used the rubber gasket maker crap on my airbox on my Foreman......works great....and I basically use my bike like a submarine :)
Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: JackL on May 30, 2008, 09:18:59 AM now thats not like the gasket maker thats just regular grease Yeah. RTV and silicone can sometimes stick so strong it is a big pain in the azz to replace the aircleaner. I guess if you used some cheap stuff from Home Depot it would work like Joe Dirt says....just avoid the 3M 5200!! Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: crom A zone on May 30, 2008, 10:16:07 AM k ill give that a try see how it goes and jack when we gonna ride man?

Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: FastestCub305 on June 05, 2008, 07:04:46 PM when u gotta let more air and fuel in it does you seriously think that removing your airbox is going to waiste that much more gas to be even noticeable....LOL Its not Title: Re: need help from all you smart people Post by: jrpro130 on June 05, 2008, 11:16:01 PM we tried it and it threw the jetting WAY off to have the airbox off. He's got it all sealed up now professionally (or at least somewhat).
Got this straaaange ticking from the motor though ;) It's all good, run it till it breaks |
