Title: buying a new motorcycle need help
Post by: bignickwaite on April 27, 2008, 11:53:46 PM
hey for all that know me im a big guy 6'3 315 lbs . im looking into buying a motorcycle to save on gas . i dont have any cash to put down so im fiancing one so it has to be new . i want a new suziki boulavard m109 or a hayabusa . i cant find the gas milage on there anywhere and thats the main reason im getting one, because a mustang which gets 12-15 miles to the gallon is not cuting a 70 mile round trip to work everyday . also im not sure which one to get and from what dealer i went to sky powersports in hudson they seem alright, the ones in springhill like the ones on sr50 and motorcycle enthusiest i sat there for 25 mins looking at bikes and didnt even get a hi from any employe.  id kinda like some feedback of some other ones around tampa area to get the best deal and customer service .i think some people on here work at some dealerships so any feedback on these bikes and dealerships would be nice .

                                                                                                                                 thanks nick

Sorry you had bad luck with Motorcycle enthusiast, but I have to say it was the easiest purchase I ever made with a dealer so far.

I love those boulevards. They are a sweet looking motorcycle. Also, Try Clearwater Powersports. My buddy bought a Busa and a Seadoo there and got great deals on both. Their service dept seems to suck but you wouldn't be coming down here for service anyways.

A 1200~1400cc bike will burn almost as much fuel civic or small yoda.
There are a few full size 750~800cc bikes out there which will do well (45~60 mpg)
Just about any bike will do better than the mustang but will add up when you calculate fuel+loan?

Motorcycle Enthusiasts... lol.

Go with Sky in Hudson, awesome dealership.  I have gone to one of their stunt shows and the staff seemed really nice.  I looked at some bikes and there prices weren't bad either.

Also try Adventure Cycle Center in Brooksville.  They used to be Suncoast Yamaha but recently changed their name. http://www.adventurecyclecenter.com/

Yeah, Call Josh or his brother Cody, They're both stand up guys  and both work for Sky in Lake Wales.

id personly get a enduro, but if you want something fast a gsxr750 gets around 48 mpg, that is if you take it easy. busas are pretty big and bulky, but your not a small guy so i would go to a dealer and sit on every bike and pick the one that you feel good on. I'm 6,5 220. and i fit on 600 pretty good. but I'm kinda flexible.

left overs are the best. i got a left over raptor 700, from 2006 for $5,700 at Riva. does that busa handle good threw turns?

it handles good just not like a 600 or 750 there smaller framed bikes but the good thing is if im riding with a 600 or so they can take the turns fast but ill take them slower and exclerate out of it and theres so much power im caugght up in no time .

If I was riding 35 miles each way to work, I think I would want something a little more comfortable than a 'Busa.  Enjoy the HP and don't get whacked!

30 miles isnt that far. hell ill ride a ttr 125 with nails sticking out of the seat. if i got that gas mileage. i read somewhere there making the gas $2.50 for a half gallon in the summer. and i cant find a reason as to why they would do that. because you still see the total in the end
