Title: freshwater fishing in the south Post by: mikeE36 on April 19, 2008, 01:27:48 PM seems so much different then were i'm from. I used live bait but everyone here seems to use lures. I also noticed that these little retention ponds can have alot of fish or no fish. What kind of stuff should I be using to catch bass and is there anyway to figure out what lakes are better to fish in.

If I am just fishing smaller residential lakes I only take the bass assassin. Title: Re: freshwater fishing in the south Post by: Chevy1500z71 on April 19, 2008, 08:52:45 PM walmart will have all you need to get started, the way i started bass fishing was with is zoom trick worms(watermellon w/ red flake color)... they ALWAYS work. i started with trick worms, then progressed to some topwater like zoom horney toads, then came the crankbaits. jigs own over winter but right now the best thing for you is going to be a trick worm or a senko. right now im using a small crankbait on the caster and a baby bass colored senko on the spinner...

The locals love the Blue Gill and use Crickets. I mostly use Rubber worms and when I just want to sit and relax I throw out a couple shiners.
