Title: Sand Dunes? Moving and need a place to ride.
Post by: carebearw3 on April 08, 2008, 11:16:43 AM
I am moving to Florida and my husband and I need place to ride our banshees. We are coming from Utah so we have Jericho and Saint Anthonys in Idaho. If anyone out there knows about these places, you'll know what I'm looking for. Thanks

closeest "real dunes" are in waynoka oklahoma, about 1500 miles from central florida. youlll find a lot of sand here in florida, but not anything i would call dunes, although there is some great riding, not as much as in the past due to land development and all the idiots that ruin it for us. ocala was great when you could ride there but now its like riding on a designated highway with speed limits and so much BS its not funny, any time im there and see a ranger i immediatley turn around and ride as fast as possible until i know im far enough away so they wont harrass me, otherwise you WLL get a ticket for not doing any ting wrong, IMO there doing a great job of shuttin it down for us, and its supposed to make the whole riding situation better, thats some BS if i ever heard it. my buddy got a $170 ticket for riding with his sand star paddles, because of the 1" tire law now in effect..lol....straight bull$h!t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hoping with everyone out there reading this I may be able to find something close... And If I do I will be sure to post it. I'll be in the panhandle area so Oklahoma won't be too bad of a drive. ;D And I can always make a week trip out of it!

depending on where your located in the panhandle the sandhills sandpits up here in GA may be a place to ride, also there are some sand dunes in louisania somewhere, I cant remember now.

LA sand dunes are in Lousania but its a joke nothing worth paying the crazy day price the "park is asking for.  also little saraha in Ok is just about the same distance and it alot better.  If you moving from Utah and want dunes head west lol you wont find them in florida

:P Unfortunately you picked the wrong state if your looking for dunes... Plenty of sand but nothing over sea level..LOL  I am from the Oregon coast and California.. Even those other places mentioned dont compare to nothing on the west coast.

With the feedback I'm getting on here I'm not sure there are any "real Dunes" in Florida. Its something my husband and I do consistently in the summer. We look forward to it all winter becuase the winter here is long and cold. Maybe I can find a happy medium and live in Utah in the summer and Florida in the Winter... ???  ???
