Title: Raptor Post by: howard on January 18, 2005, 06:46:27 AM I am having a problem with my 2004 660 raptor. When i go realy fast over bumps the bike starts to backfire and shut down like it ran out of gas. When i am just crusing it is fine. after it shuts down i come to a stop restart it and it is fine untill i go fast over bumps.

Title: Re: Raptor Post by: atvtrailer on January 18, 2005, 02:47:19 PM the engine might also not be getting enough gas(running lean) but im not an expert
Title: Re: Raptor Post by: howard on January 19, 2005, 04:01:21 AM I put a new filter on. I do not run the fuel on res but if you think it will help i will try it. I will have to check the parking brake but i do not think it is that. I also put a part on from ripper racing that does away with the reverse rev limiter. I took the carbs off last night and adjusted the fuel level so it gets a little more in the bowl. I have not had a chance to check it yet.

I was just wanting to know if you have had it on res. Make sure by the parking brake on the handlebar level is pushed all the way forward, Because sometime that happens to my bike and it does't run right. It starts to pop like the rev limiter is on. Title: Re: Raptor Post by: MadMudder on January 21, 2005, 04:42:27 PM Sounds like you have a wire shorting the engine out. It is getting jared lose over fast bumps and stalling the engine. That or something is sticking in the carbureator. I'd check all your connections and tear apart the carb and have it checked out. :)

I suggested snatching the carb of and cleaning it out. his turned out to be full of junk. I'd start there. if your in the area I 'll help you out. |
