Title: Re: What make makes the best quads for mud and water? Post by: wheelie_boy on April 06, 2008, 08:57:08 PM Honda makes the most models that are good for the mud and water. But really any Maker has good models.

Title: Re: What make makes the best quads for mud and water? Post by: ~Demon_Boy250X~ on April 13, 2008, 07:50:48 PM I think the rider has the most to do with it. But i would like to say the Outlander would probably be my first choice. With a Honda right behind it. Yes I am almost extremely Biased. Though i know almost nothing about Utiliy ATVs I would only choose the Honda for the reliability.
Title: Re: What make makes the best quads for mud and water? Post by: jimmyt14 on April 13, 2008, 08:32:59 PM Honduhs are great reliabilty wise...but when it comes to who's going further in a mudhole their in the back
Obviously I have one..and I love it but I'd love to have somthing bigger and better My Brute will go places in 2wd that the 300 gets totally buried in.It all comes down to ground clearence, if its an sra or irs, if the front wheels can be locked, and power.I have yet to find a honda with all those attributes but every other make has at least 1 wheeler like that Title: Re: What make makes the best quads for mud and water? Post by: ~Demon_Boy250X~ on April 13, 2008, 08:48:23 PM Most have more than one lol. I don't know much about UTEs as I have stated but I love all of my Honda sporties. We currently have an 04 Honda 450R (mine), and 03 Honda 400EX (my dad's), and 01 Honda 300EX (back up), a 94 300EX (sister's), and a 1996 Honda Fourtrax 300 4X2 (should have gone 4X4 :'().

Title: Re: What is the the best quad for mud and water under $6,000? Post by: backwoods boy on June 30, 2008, 12:51:02 PM well yeah a brute force is the best mud quad all around if ya got 10g's to drop on it but he said he had 6k wich i think would be a foreman or a big bear [both around 5k] plus i think the new big bears come w/ mudlites sealed brakes dff lock and irs
Title: Re: What is the the best quad for mud and water under $6,000? Post by: Palmettobay_recon on July 03, 2008, 11:54:58 PM my vote is either a big bear with the irs or an arctic cat 500/ 400
Title: Re: What is the the best quad for mud and water under $6,000? Post by: MadMudder on July 04, 2008, 02:21:42 AM Well there are allot of options out there today. If your looking for a brand new quad then i would suggest the 2008 Polaris sportsman 500. The carbureted version is 6,000 even. The EFI version is 1k more and not really worth it in Florida where we lack mountains and sub zero weather in the winter. The sportsman has been around since 1996 i believe and my dad has an 2004 that he drowns every time we ride and so far its been pretty good. Only thing that goes wrong occasionally is stuff like CV joins and stuff. The expected when you ride mud and water. Anyway I would suggest picking up something a few years old. You can buy a good Honda rancher 350 or foreman for cheap today and have allot of money left over for mods like tires and stuff. Drawback there is the age old debate of Independent suspension vs solid rear axle. If you want IS then you should go with the Polaris or even a used Polaris. Thats what I would reccomend. Basically get a good used one and save some $$ for new parts like a lift and tires. If you plan on mud and water allot you will enjoy an older quad that has the right stuff for mud instead of a brand new quad thats stock.
