Title: tire weight Post by: classic20 on February 13, 2005, 06:43:16 AM I'm looking at buying a set of mud lites or kenda bear claws. There is a about a 10 pound difference in wieght. the bear claw being the heavier. does anyone know where the weight difference comes from, less tread deepth, thinner tire. Being lighter will it be easier to get a flat? I have honda 300 so weight is somewhat of a concer.

In my opinion, rounded carcas tends to more of a diggning tire over a flatter (square) footprint like a bug or even a bearclaw, which tend to stay on top of the mud (float) better. The bearclaws are just older technology, there is a reason you don't see many of them around any more.
