Title: 2006 rancher fan questions
Post by: Bruteforce SRA on February 26, 2008, 03:21:08 PM
I have a 2006 rancher 350 and the fan does not seem to be coming on.  Its used to but I don't believe its coming on anymore (wife rides bike and it's hard getting answers from her)  I checked the fuse and thats ok.  I don't have an overheating problem yet, I just don't see fan coming on anymore.  Any suggestions??

Thanks

I would let it sit and idle for a while. That should make the fan come on. If it doesn't you need to find out why. Usually the fan works off of ground. If you ground the wire that goes to the temperature sensor the fan should come on. I'm not familiar with your quad but it is usually in the thermostat housing. If it doesn't then you know the motor is bad. If it comes on then you know the fan is working and the temperature sensor is bad.

I've got an 04 Foreman and had that problem.
The wire came loose from the temp. sensor. It was at the bottom of the engine and under the skid plate.
Pulled off the skid plate and there it was hanging.
Works great now.

Look here and find your exact model and look around, you might find where the sensor is that starts the fan.

do you guys think it would be ok for her to ride this weekend (won't get a chance to check it out before)...just trail riding...no mud.  I know been on a few rides since noticing this problem.  If its the fan sensor, will that prevent the temp light from coming on if for some reason it gets too hot..

Thanks

I"m no expert, but with it being cooler now it should be OK to ride.
You definitely want the fan in the summer though.
