Nope, owner kept those ;).  And yeah it's a good little truck to get me around.  The chrome is growing on me except the brakelight covers, cargo light cover, and those dame three circles on the hood.  Are they supposed to be scoops or something? lol.

Wednesday I am installing the exhaust I ordered and probably a K&N. What exhaust I am getting shall remain a secret until then >:D

Man I think the chrome looks good.It sets it apart from stock. That's a nice looking truck.

lol, and what was the point of geting rid of your last truck for this? i could see if you were going all out with a big diesel or something but after all that a dakota?

It definitely does make the truck pop, but until you have seen the tailight covers and cargo light covers you will think differently lol.  I'm going to take some pics in a lil while of the truck.  Might be dark but I think I can manage some decent ones in.  I made the mistake of parking at the beginning of the driveway when I got home so now I'm boxed in  >:(


Nah, I am completely broke.  I dished out all my money for this truck.  I need a job asap too pay for gas lol.  Costs $60bux to fill ???

My last truck needed a decent amount of work and was a regular cab.  This is almost perfect except for a tiny bit of fading on the rear bumper and its a quad cab.  The price was way below KBB also.  I already have plans to sell it this summer for a bigger truck lol.  But for now, this should get me around quite nicely.

Added some pics in the original post, but there not that great.  All the chrome is growing on me except a few things, so some crap will be taken off.  It's geared more towards a streettruck rather than an offroader... so the chrome flows ok for now.

Lol, It was get either get this truck with no payments, or get a diesel 4x4 that I wanted and pay $300+/month for a couple years.  I chose this for now :)

dont take off those circle things on your hood they give you crazy horsepower and your car breathes better. i have a bunch of them on my banshee.

That is the best part about this truck.  KBB is a little over $17k.  I got it for $12,5 from a guy who builds custom hotrods for a living.  He moved down here a few months ago from up north and I guess he needed to sell this truck asap for insurance reasons.  I don't know the full story but cheers to him :T

My pops used the truck earlier to go pickup my sisters new Cobalt from the dealer, and he said you should have seen all the salesman drooling over the truck. lol.  They kept saying how they never have this nice or clean of a Dakota come through the dealership.  And just for kicks my dad asked what the trade-in value would be to a salesman and he told him probably $15k.  So I figure I did pretty good price wise.

Rebel sounds like you got a great deal. Its really a nice truck. Take care of it and you shouldhave no prob selling it and getting your money back out of it in the summer time if thats what you still plan on doing. thats my 2 cents anyway.

lets not make fun of chevy we all know how i get. ill get all the ford and dodge fans fired up when i provide simple facts and data like hp and tq numbers and then they all get angry... truth hurts, if you want power go dodge if you want to get home get ford and if you want even more power and get home get a chevy!

o by the way strip that chrome! i dont meen to be a d!ck but iv never seen chrome overdone that much it looks horible lol it makes me laugh when i see the thing just becasue of the chrome no offense, the problem areas are the taillightes especialy and the fenders and mirrors id colormatch the doorhandles but chrome isnt too bad. other than that it looks realy cleen but i cant help but say you should have gone fullsize and chevy but whatever itl do untill you get a diesel

good edit ;) thats more like it... you dont have to own something to know alot about something, yea you have to own it before you can realy talk about maitnence and reliablitlty and so forth but im realy into trucks and know alot about them and my preference has been chevy long before i bought my chevy when you compare chevys to fords and dodges mechanicly its very plain and simple that chevy is the beter of the three(in my opinion)from a mechanical standpoint i could give you crap all day and it wont change your mind and i dont care but i was just kiding that last couple posts ago. and when you get a diesel do alot of research your not going to be wanting a powerstroke once you start learning up on em dont take what i say offensivly its just my opinion... back to the truck, that chroms gota go lol

And I can also Photoshop the chrome off, but no sense in doing it since I'm leaving most of it on.  I get compliments everywhere I go so I figure I might as well leave it on.  A guy in a base Dakota pulled up to the other pump at the gas station today and started yacking about how his doesn't look as good as mine.  Should have seen his face when I started it ;)

what kinda mpg you seing with that? my guess is 13-14?

i couldn't help but laugh out loud when i saw the tail light things lol, idk why but they look ridicules to me...  the rest looks good.

I would say around 15-16.  Probably 12-13 with me driving... I floor it off every light and rev it at sports cars :R

lol i have the same problem, im the only single cab d max around getting 12-14 mpg without bad injectors.. before the new tires i got like 10-11...

on the hood of a Kandy Orange late '90s Chevy Caprice sitting on 24" wheels.

Oh and i agree with kawasaki400racer. Whats funny is in the Ford commercial they stated how they were the only full size truck with a fully box frame and the only truck with closed tow hooks. Aint that some BS. when i went to Daytona for the gator duels they had the big Chevrolet event going on and behold what did I see?? A Silverado frame that was fully boxed and it had close tow hooks. All i can say is when a company puts just a frame out for ppl to see and it actually draws a crowd, that must say alot!!

I had to put my POS superduty in the shop last week and they gave me an 08 silverado for a rental. Biggest pile of garbage on the road. IMO. My father retired from GM and I still have uncles and cousins working for them. My dad passed a couple years ago. He was a ford guy. The rest of the people I know that are still there(cousins and uncles) drive ford's and dodges. They claim that they know first hand Chevrolet no longer build's a good truck. The proof is in the workers parking lot.

Seriously, there are more ford and dodges in the employee lots than there are Chevy's. Personally no matter what truck i buy it turns out to be a piece of crap. New or used.

i realy cant think of a more reliable truck than a 88-98 chevy/gmc 2500 with the 305, 350, or 454, a truck like that will literaly last you forever and super easy to work on. the reason i dont say the half tons is becasue they are known for there weak 10 bolt rearend and the g80 locker in that rearend was a timebomb... i have a half ton with 200k miles and it has never realy let me down other than minor things and of course i blew up the rearend but thats becasue i have 35s, a blower, and a built trans, it was a matter of time before i busted the rearend.

I think you're right about the older chevy's. My last chevy was an 04 2500HD 6.0. I wanted to set it on fire daily.

Chevy doesn't suck -- I would take one over a Toyota/Nissan/etc any day.  I just prefer Ford and Dodge, because I have either owned one or grew up around them.  Everyone has their own opinion, but in the end...

the most reliable trucks ive owned in order all in all i liked 3 the best
1. 91 mazda b2200/ranger 105k miles ran it harder than he!! drown it over the hood in water left it therefor 1 1/2 days and it still owned my other trucks
2. 88 chevy k5 blazer 155k miles rebuilt tranny in 05 [the only auto ive owned i personally hate autos so thats not too bad] other than that all ive had to do is ujoints and a tie rod
3. 90 ford bronco 302 200k mile club on stock motor/drivetrain with the exception of a new clutch all i did on it was radiator ps pump and ac compressor and hella power window problems
   

also at work i drive an 07 chev. 2500 its THE biggest piece of crap ive ever driven 1/2 the time its in the shop and it only has 13k miles i honestly would feel better driving my 88 blazer :o

I agree with all of you. the older chevy/gmc are better. my 89 gmc 1500 is still truckin after 220k miles. tho i have replace the motor and trans last year. trans didnt need to be replace but i had a fresh rebuild sitting there from another project and decided to put it in. the motor was a 305 that after 30 mins of driving would lose oil pressure. put 50 weight racing oil in  and it kept running.  eventually decided it was time to retire the ol' motor and put a fresh rebuild 350 in it. But even tho i replace most of the drive train. that has been a great truck. And whats best about it, it doesn't has all the electrical/ sensor BS the newer trucks have. End result.... much easier to work on!
