need to keep it or say it is under 2k,otherwise I am pretty sure it needs certification weight & title.

It is what it is,payup & deal with it. Was it hooked to the tow vehicle? If you can shave 150lbs off, take of ramps or 2 tires?

Call up DMV & see.G/L

If its home built make up a vin#  and tell them you made the trailer yourself. The dmv doesn't check out anything, especially in florida. Just make up a weight. My neighbor makes home made trailers and does this all the time and never has an issue.

I have not dealt with any home built. But I am under the assumption that if you try to tag it they are going to require a weight slip. If over 2000 lbs it will have to have a vin number and title issued. It will be between $50-$60 a year for tag plus a fee to issue tag.

maybe because mine is so ugly, but I paid the registration for my Pace 6X12 enclosed and it was only about $30,,,,,,last I knew it weighed in near 3K pounds.

but I'm not a trailer expert.

all i can say is holy cow.    i watched $175 jump rite outta my wallet. they said it was 75 for a title fee then 10 for the plate itself. and 65 for the register fee. then 25 for the agentcy fee.  now i remember why i never went to get one.

Yep sounds right you could have done it at dmv yourself & saved $25 but the $65 is the penalty for going over the 2k & needing to title it as a result.

Its done now get over it.You probably saved a bunch of cash building it yourself right?

God luck!
