Title: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: HUGGYJD on April 04, 2005, 07:33:11 PM Seems about every time i put the thing in gear it stalls. Even after its warmed up. Just turned over 100 miles. Is there a fix other then taking it to the shop?

Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: Chuck_Norris on April 04, 2005, 08:08:59 PM possible to small pilot jet, what about you Idle screw can you adjust it?
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: Truegrit on April 04, 2005, 08:45:48 PM I hope its not the pilot jet with only 100 miles.
The idle probably need sto be turned up a bit. If that does not correct it then take it to the dealer, should be under warranty. I am assuming the bike is stock. Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: HUGGYJD on April 05, 2005, 03:42:18 AM yes...it is stock. It does have an idle adjustment on the side. I will try that.
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: TRX350_On_The_Rack on April 05, 2005, 06:48:42 AM I assume this has electric shift. Does it seem to stall if you rev it? It may be related to something electric when you shift, like an inhibitor switch.
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: HondaBeaterSFL on April 05, 2005, 07:25:45 AM Im going with the idle, bump it up a couple hundred rpm. Not too much and see if it still happens. If so, off to the dealer you go...
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: HUGGYJD on April 05, 2005, 03:41:56 PM The dealer wants to charge me $150 for the 100 mile check up. I asked him if its stalling is that not a warranty issue? I think that 100 mile check up is a money maker.
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: Truegrit on April 05, 2005, 03:57:24 PM You should feel blessed, the local dealerships up here want $225-260. The shop where I bought my bike wants $180. You can cange all of the fluids youself for under $35 (using Honda products).
I did it, it only took about 20 minutes, including changing the sparkplug, front and rear diffs. That is all they are going to do any way. You adjust the valves at 100hrs, you may want to have them do that. Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: TRX350_On_The_Rack on April 06, 2005, 06:45:28 AM Stalling better be a warranty issue. Otherwise send the lemon back to Honda.
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: HondaBeaterSFL on April 06, 2005, 07:14:57 AM Did you try turning the idle up a bit? Or is it something else?
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: TRX350_On_The_Rack on April 06, 2005, 07:18:42 AM Should of bought a Honda........no wait.......that usually sounds right......I got it. You should of bought a different Honda ;D
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: HUGGYJD on April 06, 2005, 07:50:00 AM Well. I think.........I hope ...its just an idle issue. Other then the stalling deal, its been a great 100 miles. But i do have to say i bought my Polaris sportsman back in 2003 and i have never had it back to the shop since. My buddy has the very first atv 4x4 honda ever came out with. Not sure what the name is but its old. He has never had it in the shop since he's had it .
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: TRX350_On_The_Rack on April 06, 2005, 08:33:43 AM I would think this is a dealer issue if raising the idle doesn't help. Have you beat the living sh*t out it in the first 100 miles?
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: HUGGYJD on April 06, 2005, 08:36:40 AM No.. Not at all. I don't race or anything. Just trail ride with my kids. Hardly ever go over 35 mph. I baby the @#$% out of my ATV'S
Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: TRX350_On_The_Rack on April 06, 2005, 08:57:02 AM That's your problem. I beat my ATV like it owes me money and it runs like a champ.
Turn up the idle [smiley=Approve.gif] Title: Re: 05 Rancher AT stalling Post by: HUGGYJD on April 06, 2005, 09:12:27 AM Next time i go i will run the snot out of it . See if it helps :)
