Title: Mini Quad Gas Leak?
Post by: Pat on January 14, 2008, 11:58:22 AM
My brother-in-law gave my son one of those small mini quads made in China I believe.  The petcock (I think you call it that...turns gas on/off) leaks gas whether it's in the on or off position. I took it apart and there was a small metal washer that was somewhat bent.  I couldn't find one like it but did try rubber o-rings.  Didn't work.  I've been trying to find a replacement petcock assembly but since these things are made in China I've had zero luck.  I even brought it in to the dealership for help but the service guy said he wouldn't be able to fix it.  Any suggestions? Anyone know of a place that sells replacement parts for these things? Someone in Orlando that works on small engines?
Thanks in advance,
Pat

If it has a universal type petcock: The bent washers is "spring" washer. It goes behind the petcock face plate and keeps tention on the o-ring on the rear of the valve. It seems you are missing the o-ring.

It may be easier to get a universal shut off valve from a lawn/small engine shop.

You should be able to get parts that will work from a honda dealer, just tell them it is on an old atc 70, 90 or 110 & the part should work & be very similiar.

If you go into a Honda dealer & tell them you have a mini atv made in China, they are instructed by Honda to turn you away!
