Title: sportbike exhaust question
Post by: bigwake on January 07, 2008, 12:57:52 PM
i just got myself a gsxr600..a 2002..its all stock so its wayyy too quiet for safety..u could probably hear a moped before this thing on the street..i checked about removing the baffle and it makes no effect with sound and i really don't want to start cutting welds etc..i see people take the can off and run the bike with just the midpipe and that does the trick for loudness..i'm not trying to get tickets either, and i figure with all the custom chopper straight pipes i would not get in trouble at a light if i'm just idleing...i wondered if anyone knew how taking the can off and riding would harm the bike in any way? it is fuel injected and i just don't have the money to fork out for a nice system or slip on..thanx!

Leave it a lone until you can get a pipe.

is that because you've heard of bad things happening to the motor?

removing the can and running an open header will just lean out the bike and with out a power commander to adjust the ecu the bike the motor will get messed up. save for a slip on or check ebay for a used one im sure getting one at a good price isnt that hard
