Title: Drum Brakes
Post by: nobull60 on May 17, 2005, 11:42:04 AM
Rear Brake Pads are glazed on my kids Bomb DS90. How do you get to them? The casing over the drum was easy to remove but what about the drum itself? Never did anything like these before. Is it pressed onto the shaft? Not sure what the heck is going on. And BMS wants over $100 to put them on. Any help would be great.

I'm not familiar with that particular model, but most drum systems are similar. I would back the adjuster nut(s) on the cable(s) all the way out. This will release any pressure on the drum. Get a rubber mallet or a block of wood and a hammer. Bang on the side of the drum first to try to break the shoes loose. Then try to pound it off. Don't hit it directly with a regular hammer you might damage the drum. Use the wood or a rubber mallet like I stated earlier. Don't give up to quickly some times these things take some time, just keep working at it. Good luck.
