Title: gonna work on wheelies. Post by: Ida_Mann on September 27, 2004, 07:35:36 PM never really cared for doing them before, but now that I have the power to do them at will,,,,,,any tips?
I noticed in a lot of vids people tend to go on asphalt a lot for the wheelies,,,,I assume thats for more control and a smooth surface,,,,,suggestions? Id@ Title: Re: gonna work on wheelies. I own a predator and can stand it up just fine, but i can take my sons 400 Ex and stand it up and shift thru 4th gear and never set it down. those are the best balanced bikes I have ever rode. and I get to ride alot of differant bikes because I repo every thing they make.

Post by: PredaGator on October 10, 2004, 12:09:01 PM I agree with Predatorwild. The 400ex is a great wheelie machine. The bike is very well balanced and has enough power to keep the front end up but is manageable enough to prevent anything unpredictable from happening.(At least most of the time.) The thing I miss most about my 400 is the wheelie riding. Not to knock any other machine for their wheelie capabilities because I have not exactly done a field study on all bikes,just adding my $.02 about the 400.

I have only owned it for two months now but I'm gettin brave so I'm gonna have to strap on my helmet and see what I can do haha. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. My son is not that good with the clutch yet and was asking how i did them.. He said that the kfx 700 is easyer than the raptor 350.. So i had to show him it is just as easy... I been rollin these babies for 400-500 yards. haha j/k pretty far though. Got the 2nd gear wheelies down. got the one handers down. Flamingos. Highchairs, supermans, no handers. just playin chris. Chris just have your son practice a lot. Is he scared to go back on the grab bar? If so. Tell him to just practice revving it high so he goes onto it and practice using the rear brake. your son have aim?

I am prolly going to go up there and ride next weds. on my bday and practice them some more!!! I was having so much fun yesterday....I can get them up nice and high but now I need to find my balance point so that I can ride them out!!!!

1. Find an open field 2. Find the first gear powerband where the front end wants to pop up 3. Just keep practicing in 1st gear until you find your bikes balance point and once you find it its all fun from there as far as the rear brake goes as long as you have good throttle control you won't need it, its hard to flip the bike if you are carefull and if you do flip it will just teach how far is to far atleast it did me. hint- buy a six pack rack to help you at first it will keep you from flipping Title: Re: gonna work on wheelies. Post by: bigb on June 11, 2005, 11:13:58 AM just bring your quad up in first gear to a nice above idle cruise. try to shift your seating position to where your weight is a little more on the back tires and roll into the gas. alot of people will try to fight it back down, it's natural you have to supress this reaction and let the front come up try and try again you'll get it. don't start out trying to pop the clucth you will end up on your head.

Wheelying is very fun but before I had it down pact. I kept on bending my wheely bar. I didn't know any better so I kept buying stock wheely bars. They suck for a lack of a better word. Now I have after market bars even though I rarely hit them now, they don't bend as easy. All it takes is practice. This will eliminate fear and perfect your skill. Good Luck! You dont have acces to the brake as easy and you can really hurt yourself
