Title: need new piston or not??
Post by: Chevy1500z71 on December 16, 2007, 09:44:22 AM
ok i have a piston for a 250cc small honda 4 stroke, i cracked a small pice off of the botom of the skirt and i grinded them both down to match, so you would never notice but the botom of the piston is about a litle more than 1/8 inch shorter. iv fixed seized up 2 strokes by grinding niks and grooves off of the piston and cylinder 100 times without a problem but im afraid that since the piston is shorter it may cause long term effects like oveling the cylender out or something like that. what do you guys think is it worth buying a new piston or not.

Depends on how the bike will be used.
As a yard dog: The old piston should due.
20 miles out in the woods: get a new piston and rings.
