Title: Hare scrambles?
Post by: CrazyCat420 on February 07, 2005, 06:12:53 PM
I live on the florida Ga border right on the coast and I am looking to get in on a couple of hare scrambles.  does any one know were the closest ones would be to jacksonville???  How do they run there series, do you have to be a member like ama???  what would I expect to pay for entrie and gate fees??  What kind of classes do they run?? Any body out there that might have some information that can help me out would be greatly appriciated!!

Thanks
Crazy cat

Hey Crazycat,
I race FTR XC. Florida Trailriders.
Its a huge organiztion and I can tell ya that the drive is worth the trip to every race.
There are several members from Ga and the Jacksonville area.
YOu can also run the GNCC series too.
There will be a GNCC in Florida in March north of Daytona.
Then the next GNCC after that will be in Ga.
Go to www.gnccracing.com to get the info.
Check out the FTR website when the next race is. Its not this weekend as there is a GNCC in Tx this weekend.
But the next weekend after that is FTR and its in Chipley, Fl.
Its on the other side of Tallahassee. It would be easy for you to take I-10 straight accross.
Your first race will be expensive.
40.00 for race.
40.00 FTRmembership
40.00 AMA card if its an AMA sanctioned event. They will let you know at the race if you need a card or not. If you need one you can get there.
20.00 for transponder, you will get that back if you return the transponder.
Sign up is from 7-9 am Sat. Then 930 practice for quads.
330 pm is race time.
Most people show up Friday night and camp out.
80% sleep in RVs or trailers but the do have a no generator area if you want to tent it.
There are always hotels nearby too.
There is a forum on the FTR site to ask more questions or jsut PM me and I can help you out.
YOu are more than welcomed to park next to us if you want help getting through the ins and outs at the first race so you are not so alone sort of speakiing.
Everyone at the races will help you out if just ask.
Its not like the jetski races I used to be in where everyone is so stuck up.
Hope you can make it.
We will also have a few more races at Gatorback and Hardrock. Which are fairly close to you.
The longest ones will be the ones down by Occeechobee.
Hope I was of some help.

I am from jacksonville and yamadooski is right, the FTR is a great organization and the only thing I can say is go to a race and find out for yourself.  It is alot of fun, and the races are spread out all over the state so you can pick some of the ones that are closer to you.  Yamadooski took care of most of the facts and the FTR website can take care of the minor details.....

Well Cat if you cant make that one the next one is the next weekend, we have back to back races this time.
The next one will be at Gatorback in Gainsville.
This one is half XC and half MX. We start off and head into the woods and come out 5 miles later on the MX track. Its also really rocky with off camber hills, this is fun too.
Its kinda like if you suck on the MX track you can make it up in the woods, thats why I do a little MX practice a few times a year.

Well I will have to see I think that might work but it all depends on when the race is and when it is over because my wife got us tickets for the monster truck gig in jax which I think is on that sat??  if this race is on sat how long does it go till?

the race is from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, but remember you have to sing up from 7:30 am to 10:30 am, and if you want to go to the practice, this is from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
