Title: 400ex won't start
Post by: flt mech on November 03, 2007, 10:01:57 PM
Tinkering with my 2001 Honda 400ex today and found that it won't start.  Everytime I hit the start button I hear a chattering noise coming from the battery area.  I finally tracked it down and found it to be coming from a relay right next to the battery.  I think it would be called the starter relay is this right?  How much do they cost and can I bypass it till the part comes in.  Thanks for any info.

hey check your battery and make sure all the connections are tight and not corroded . If that is all good you can take a old screwdriver and cross the 2 bolt terminals on that relay. that will make straight power goto the starter. take care.

I tried that crossing the two and it does try to start then, but it hurts my battery.
