Title: 4 Wheel Drive - Max Speed.
Post by: UncleRico on September 30, 2007, 08:11:09 PM
Does anyone know what the maximum speed for a 4wd vehicle is when in 4 wheel low?

Or 4 wheel high for that matter?

That's what I was thinking, but didn't want to say it.

why do you need to drive in 4 low at that speed? that cuts gas mileage in half. and destroys your truck. the fastest i would ever go is fast enough to get whoever im pulling out un stuck. then its back to 4 hi or 2wd. i have never needed to use 4 low though.

Oh.

Well, that explains all the smoke and the grinding noise.

Laden or unladen?

Stop trying to confuse the simpletons with all your legal mumbo jumbo!

What? You mean everyone hasn't attended a mumbo jumbo class before 5th grade these days?

Like a sparrow, a laden 4x4 has a different speed than one that is unladen.........(Monty Python).

depends on the vehicle,,,,my dad owned a '84 Cherokee that wouldn't go over about 15 mph in 4th gear when it was in 4wd low.
