Title: County Line Drag as a thought
Post by: EigerGuy on September 27, 2007, 10:01:07 PM
while i was brain storming about my cars and my fourwheelers i was thinking how big is county line drag? like all the out skirts for possible trail riding, its just a thought nothing more than that so far. is there alot of wooded areas or what??? i wasnt thinking nothing illegal maybe making it part atv park, possibly???

the way i remember is, the next road south, is where we parked, and rode up and down that road there which was a hard packed dirt/gravel road and you could go into the woods from there, and go back into the quarry back there, What i really remeber was going throught the woods there and coming out onto the strip right there and watching people race up and down the strip there, but this was a couple years back and i don't know if those trails have or haven't been used and are over grown or what

this is also true something should be done in town no offence but I never saw anything in papers down here or heard of the atv rally that happened I think it was due to the place it was held I may be wrong but we need something in town I am not excluding myself I cant make all the meeting but I due make the s.fl ones and some in ftmyers and I know some of you guys make longer runs like scooterb, paul and other and I thank them cause those I cant do. But we should try to get a meeting with the gov on some of these issues even if the meeting is under false pretences like telling them it is for Insurance perposes and show up with a different ajenda lol

Gotta remember, the people running the track do not own the land.  The track is temporary till it becomes of the next rock quarry.
All this land will be dug up.

Its also, kinda like a test idea to see how Dade county would react to its own track.

I'm sure there are people with more information on this than I have.

from what i heard, is that the owner was on a limited lease, the govener was there maybe there 3 weeks ago and gave the owner an unlimited lease for the land because he saw what an improvement this track made on the streets and soon you will see grand  stands and permant buildings as a result of this, as before he was on a limited lease which he didn't want to build on the land and have it go away in a few months, but agian this is just what i heard

Wasnt there a dirt oval being built there? I often wonder if TT/flat track would actualy get much response down here. Also supermoto at homestead speedway would be kool.MX track is fun but it sure would be nice to have different options, especialy with Seminole having closed its woodtrails and not knowing when they will reopen.

Myabe I'm confused, but how could the governor approve an "unlimited" lease, when the land is not even owned by Florida.  It is part of the white rock mining company I believe.

I would be into that if it came down here and know of a few guys down here that would also be into that. All those flat tracks are so far Miami-Dade.

At he last OHV Meeting in Orlando Mia /Dade parks and rec reported the
results of their study for an OHV park and
County Line was the #1 choice for a Short Term solution (the next 5 years)
it is 40 acres of a 640 acre parcel
6 months to prepare RFP's for improvements to the area.

Yeah but Scott I believe was your name I was at county line when it was propsed to him with MGR (cary) and the wooded parts are of limits because of derm and if you have not been there it is not much the place is good to hold and mx track and maybe mud holes but the is not much without the wooded area and even then it is not much the thing is how much will ppl be willing to pay to ride it ???

which other places were on the list cause SFWMD pulled all thier lots off the list at the last minute and rockyglade looked to be a better spot The thing that sucks is it takes all this time to open something but 1 day to close something else and the aerojet lot is big but only the outskirts  of the property will be able to be ridden not the whole thing

Big cypress airport would be nice.alot of land and plus its  closer than seminole Mx for us miami riders. Also theywould make money off of it and we all know how the goverment likes our money.I agree with Gato on the homestead areas not a good sight because of houses.Hopefuly somthing happens soon.I have a 525 irs that  I have been gearing up for woods riding and then realized that without seminole we have no real woods/trail riding. On a side note does FTR lobby for riding areas?
