heres the deal, 500+ acres of sand pits, hills, trails, river beds, mud bogs and just a plain ol' good time!!
the land is owned by a sand mining company, and is leased by a few guys who wanted to use the land for the sole purpose to have a place to ride! Here's the kicker, its leased as a private hunting club, reason being is its easier for them to let people ride that way, you can ride without any helmet on 70mph in sandles and a shorts drinkin beer through the mud bogs you can! all machines are welcome as well. Here is the next kicker, you have to pay, 19 a month or do the math for a year, Im currently talking with the lease owners to see if it can be dropped a little lower for people that arnt local, even for me its a 1 hr drive, they let me and my buddy ride free yesturday to check it out and we had a blast!!! its worth it in my opinion!! also in the pics the scale of the hills dosnt seem right, they are much higher and steeper than they look in the pics, also I forgot to take pics of the big pit.

camping is ok, like I said I will be talking to the lease owners about a lower price for someone who isnt going to be there but maybe once or twice a year for a weekend

huh? it works for me just check it, but never the less its about 10 miles north west of WAYCROSS GA mapquest waycross as thats the nearest town, and there are hotels there

Let us know when you have more contact information. We own property about 3 hours due west off 82 in Georgetown, GA.. Would be interested in visiting the site during the summer and the Christmas season. Or, will it be used for hunting during Christmas?

no hunting after 10am and before sometime in the afternoon, if caught hunting in the inapropriate times you will be banned for life! mainly this place it more open on the weekends to ride, will post phone numbers shorty I will go did through my truck for them!

went there today sunday the 17th of NOV had a blast!!!

Was up there all day Fri and Sat. ....just a great place for us to train as far as trail riding goes...rode about 40 miles of trail.....100 miles NW of Jacksonville straight up US 1 about 10 mile outside of Waycross....really enjoyed the trails for so then the pit. Nice flowing and traversing terrain...a very good workout for us FTR guys can't wait to go back Monday

No...just drove back and forth...planning on making a long weekend in Dec.

Me and my son went up yesterday,what a awsome place!!!!! well worth the ride.All the atvers are great folks.No strangers,just friends you havent met yet!!Lotsssss of clay,damn that stuff is slippery!! ;D ;For sport quads lots of sand hills.we rode all day only rode on small portion of the place.Can't wait
to go up with a pack of the guys on the site.

Joined the hunt club today and took 2 people with me along with my son to ride....they loved it..both said they will have a sportquad by next weekend... what a great place to ride...rode the northern end of it this afternoon and it was great...Scott had also said he's looking into leaseing another 1200 acres next to it....WOW!!!!!!!!! wouldn't that be great :T

well im glad I posted on this place! looks like its getting alot of traffic now, theres alot more there then initially meets the eye thats for sure!

How come all the good places are 400 miles away?

Yeah this place is defently worth the trip. Went up there with my dad medicmudder last sunday and it is really cool. Its kinda like ocala but without all the rules and its way cooler. Theres sandhills that are like 90 degree angles to climb and theres mudholes in the sandpits. Also a creek you can ride down to and even in if your brave enough  ??? . Would have pics but not on right computer. Anyway all the people we saw were really cool. Even a few stayed behind to help with a quad problems and stuff. Trust me if you want a place out of the ordnary to ride at its defently worth comming down and riding at.

Just got back about an hour ago and am downloading video as I type...man I just LOVE this place...Dude had a sand drag banshee there to day and it was BAD ASS TO THE BONE!!!!!!!!!

our day did not go as good as I would have liked it ... in the 1st 30 minutes water pump impeller came apart on the Rappy...MudCat (104B) turned her YFZ450 over on the flat track with a dune incorporated in it on one end...then came the trail training and WHOPP... one of those South Georgia wait a minute trees jumped right out in front of ole  MUD!!!!!!!!

How far you all think this place is from 295 @ US1...? Trying to guage where it is... Any hours on the place? Can we go up and do night rides? (after the next three days) Holy wow it's cold out side...

It is apx 1hr 15 min from 295 us1 it is apx 10 min out side of Waycross,if you go around Waycross use truckroute.

Any new info on this place? Is there like a guy working the gate taking fee's or do you have to call and make an appointment or something... reading the thread i got a little confused with the phone numbers and such? or is it just kewl to drive up and ride or do you need to be voted in or something?

I see ya boy there found the "GATOR" hole as he walked further out.. 'bout 6 ft deep there was it....how was the rest of the trails down by the river? ...flooded I'm sure...we are back into the meat of racing season so it'll be after our last event May 3rd before we get back up there...have you talked to Scott about when the cook out might happen so we can put it on our calender...hope to "SEA" ya soon...kinda looks like a sea with an island in the middle....my understanding though this place dries out pretty quick....Outlaw

yea it dries out quick this is the most I have ever seen it up to, yes the river is over flowing, but becouse it only starts about 80 miles away it goes down fast, even with all the water it was still a blast. Also this was  the only time NO LOCALS were there! 2 guys from jax and meddicmudder were there and that it! I waited for scott or horus to show up but they never did, I will keep my ear open about the cookout as I plan on attending.

How dry is it up there now? We are looking to head up there this weekend.

I will be there on the 19th, in a  Black Ford excursion,I went there this last weekend, river is low you can cross it most places,we had a great ride there we're some people there,we had a blast

sweet! should be a great time. I got some younger under 10 kids comming so if anyone has any kiddies bring them out!! (should be 3-4 in our group!)

We will be with Kids, that's, Kids get mad if Dad Goes riding without them.

Me and medic are going to try to get back up there one weekend this month. Kinda wanting to go back. SO nice to just find somewhere you can ride and have fun without all the crap and regulations. Plus theres mud sand trails and all that fun stuff. Last time we were up there it looked like this.

just go out there now... since Ive put that place on here they started getting so many people out there they made a little stand there you pay at and get wrist bands, either way someone will find out your there to ride.

Syko I just read your post about your ride, I saw you out there today, I remember The Ford on Semi's. We parked across the Highway from you guys.I did not know it was you at the time.... I was on a Blue Grizzly 660, My brother rides a green Grizzly 660 and my son a Green Grizzly 80...

Is it dry out there right now? A buddy of mine went out there last weekend and said it was dry and he had a blast but he heard it rained out that way and made alot of wet areas.
I am planning a ride next weekend and was just curious if sport atvs will have fun out there right now.

We were out there today. Blue sportsman a red suzuki and a camo chinese quad with a chevy sliverado for anybody that was there. Had a ball. Its WAY down from the last time we were there. Allot of places that used to be only like 800s and 32in tires we were able to play in and stuff. The creek is rideable for a good portion. The sandbox area has a few really nasty clay pits. I mean this one i was in (forgot the camera  :'(  ) i had the bike spinning fowards and i could push it backwards with almost no effort. Thats how nasty this clay was. My dad (medicmudder) sank his about 5 times. Anyway had fun today cant wait to go back.

yea I saw you guys we were parked right across from you in the big monster ford my black ford and the minivan... we unloaded and took off!! the place was awesome!! I will throw up a link to my pics in a bit!

yea I didnt meen no to be freindly, its we had a large group and they were chompin at the bits to ride, as soon as the machines touched dirt everyone was gone in every direction! didnt have to much time to talk! lol!  this place seems to get better and better, lots of new sandy trails to ride as well I spent a hour riding on them.. then went down to the river to ride some trails down there, great place! Im glad I found this spot!

if your planning on riding durring the week call ahead, there is mining going on there sometimes durring the week.. most of the time we ride weekends and its allways open  You dont have to join the club but to ride its just $10

Ok, I had to stop for the night in Tifton, GA. A few miles west of Waycross up rt 82. The forecast for this area for tomorrow was rain all day Friday. Damn, I could be riding. no adress or gps cordinates... but its easy to find... just head east from tifton on hwy82 towards waycross
before you get to waycross look for hwy 1 north turn left onto hwy 1 then at the T in the road turn left, go about 1 mile and the sand pits are on your left you cant miss it.

sky, thanks, I checked out the sky pic of the area along with your directions, I've pin pointed it on my GPS and made a way point. can't get lost now! Now I gotta figure which day to go. I was planning on being 4 hours north of here most of the weekend. Hunting for land deals up along Strom Thurmond lake and then over to the Broad River ATV park. maybe I'll have to hit the sand box Monday on my return trip. The weather for this weekend starting Saturday will be great for riding according to the local news guys.

Change of plans, heading to the Sand Box right now, 55 miles to go. Heading south on Rt 1, somewhere in the hills of Georgia. It was raining up around Broad River Atv.

AWESOME! take some pics man!

Man what a blast!  I was there riding for about 6 hours today. I hooked up with the Hunt club owners/riders after exploring the area for an hour. This crew is totally crazy! In a great way. I got tons of pics and video's, if I can figure out how to post them again, it's been awhile.  We wrapped it up about 6:30 pm. It's now 11:45pm and I'm at the best Western at CROOM. Life can't get any better! Well, maybe it could if the HOOTERs atv club shows up here tomorrow. More pics and video's to come. I was suppose to go back to the sand box tomorrow but I thought I'd get a jump on heading south back towards Ft Myers. Croom is only 2.5 hours away so after playing here tomorrow, it will be a short ride home. If anyone goes tomorrow get a hold of Horase, his granson collects the cash at the stand there, tell him TJ from Ft Myers will be back, just not this sunday, tomorrow.
  If your thinking of going up there, JUST DO IT! you will have the time of your life in the mud. My new Renegade r X got broken in today. The fender overriders worked perfect. just the right amount of mud on the trails and water in the river for crossings.

just left croom, my a$$ is dragon! 7 more hours of play time today and my body hurts. 3 hours to go and I'll be home In my hot tub. I hooked up with a great group of friends. There must have been 10 or more of us in line running the trails. Hardley any mud to be found, unlike the Sand Box.  The trails today were dry and dusty, great boogers!

Dirty, our place is 2 hours west of 75 on 82 in Georgetown. How come you don't visit Durhamtown?

GPS Coordinates to Sandbox for future reference if anyone needs them. I haven't been yet but i just used Google Earth so find it so i can add it to my GPS..

AINT, Wish I knew about it a few days ago, I wooda been there today. It wooda only been a small detour in my travels. I'll schedule it in, looks great.

That's the place! Me and my two teens are planning to be there M-T 22-23 December. Get the Reardons and meet us there. We can all do the Sand Box the Saturday before that, if you want.

we might be up north those dates for xmass.

Guys, can anybody tell me if a 2 wheel drive truck pulling a trailer with 2 ATVs can make it there or would I end getting stuck.

sure can I drive a lowered 2wd extended cab ford pulling a 16 ft trailer there everytime. no problem the main entrence and parking area is hardpack

I missed the road in, beings it was my first time, and I pulled in at the break in the guard rail. Drove over the soft dune area with my FJ Cruiser. I didn't see any signs, just all of the trucks parked in the sand. Watch out for grandma in their club. I wasn't getting dirty enough so after she had a few beers she started rubbing GA dirt on me. I guess it was my "right of passage" as an temp. Club member.

Anyone going this Saturday? I'm wanting to go but i'll probably be by myself unless i can get some buddies to go.

xchief, I went by myself, just hook up with the club there, watch out for granma, they'll show you a good time. Sundays are the busy day there. 

Still have yet to go. We have a sweet place near Jax (10,000 acres) that we go to and just haven't made it to Ga yet.
We are thinking about going to Ga this Sunday if the weather is good and the place isn't under water.

usualy dosnt go under water uneless there is relentless rain up here.. even when it does there is stil plenty of riding around it.

I had a blast! If it wasn't so far from here, I'd go every other weekend! Really nice people and trails.

Anyone know how the weather has been up there lately? If it's been good we are finally going to be able to make it that way tomorrow.

Chief how far is this place from southside Atlantic and Kernan?

From my house in Argyle it's less then 100 miles according to my GPS and Google Earth. If you have Google Earth or any other program like that put in the coordinance i posted on the thread and it will take you right to it.

If I'm right its about 2 hours from me. Another hour and I could be at RR at my camp. To far for me right now for a day trip even though gas is getting cheaper.

We went today and had a blast. Took about 1.5 hours to get there which isn't too bad, Well worth the trip though.
The pits had some water in the bottom and middle but the sides were pretty much dry enough to play on the hills. It's alot of fun on sport quads but i'm sure the Ute guys love the place with tons of wet stuff to play in. We rode pretty much every trail on each side of the rode we could go down without risk of getting stuck. A few had alot of water so we didn't try them.

When we left at 4 or so i counted 19 trucks still there. Nice find and we'll be coming back in a month or so. :ThumbsUp.gif

damn, I wish I was only 1.5 hours away! Even 3 hours wouldn't be that bad.

WAS THE BIG PIT (NORTH END) full of water? how high did the river come up?

The pit by where you park had some water in the bottom, same with the other one by the road coming in. Neither were full, we didn't go into them since we were riding sport ATV's not Ute's

As for the river it was up and flowing real well. Not sure how high it normally is but the parts where you can ride down to it near the 55 gallon drums still had plenty of beach visable, But again no clue how deep since we didn't venture off in it.

Anyone been out there lately? We are thinking about heading out there tomorrow and was seeing how it was right now.

im sure their is a good amount of water where you saw it last, just more of it now.

if you go let us know how it is. I was goign to try for the weekend before chirstmass for a little ride.

hey last time I was there, there seemed a bit more trails out in the north corner (sandy area) I like that! you guys did any of that? when I rode there last no locals were out there only me blasting through them all.

We went and had a blast. They got a bunch of rain so the UTE guys will have a blast out there with all the water on the ground. We were the only ones out there till after noon, Then some started showing up. We'll go back after it dries up some though..

Anyone gonna be out there tuesday? Think we might be.

i have been looking at the weather, it isnt showing rain until sunday. but when it saids it going to rain it is not that much!! but its going to be nice out side has far has warm! i sent my brother down to the river yesterday and see how it looks and the river has drop alot! the trails going beside the river only has a little water in them and that is only where the mud holes are...im going about 2:00pm tomm, and ride all day and sunday. heck i got to try my new 09 honda rancher 420 4x4 out... its going to be fun!!!!

it sprinkle on us 3 times maybe. but that didnt last but 3to4 min, we had alot of fun!! all the trails are just right! they just have water were the mud holes are. we also rode all over the sand bars. the river has drop alot! i ride on the other side of the river, when you come to the bridgei ride all to your let before you cross over..there are some mean hole down there!!

Yeah it figures it wouldn't really rain since we decided to not come..lol.. Maybe next weekend...

went to try the snorks out,frt end started locking up.The left outter cv joint locked up. pulled it apart,found broken boot,water,mud,rust in joint (wonder how dad got in there???) :-\ :-\ sooooo got to go to St Aug,found a place there they rebuild them.Much cheaper I can get 3 rebuilt for the cost of 1 new one.Did find one problem,not enuf air flow,bike dying out.take lid off runs good,back to drawing board.thinking

Getting burnt out on our local/normal spots.

Are the trails across the road near the river rideable on a sport atv right now? We're not scared of mud or getting dirty. But no reason to stay stuck the whole time. Last time we went it was pretty muddy in the back.

I USUALLY  just ride in the sandy hills in the north west corner, there are a bunch of new trails through there

I am free saturday and sunday but I am rolling a rancher on27's,is this going to be more sport or trail riding?

HOMIE everything is ok out there, sport quads, mud quads, kid quads, dont matter what you got everyone is cool!

the river may have some spots that you can cross. but i dont think you should right yet! the river is not to high but not crossable yet. the trails are nice! they have some water but only in the mud holes on the trails.. but yea the trails across the river are rideable! there are alot of big sand bars also.. i like the other side myself! it fun has heck!!

i ride on a 09 rancher 420 4x4.. most that ride with us runs a full size. but yea bring it. you will love the trails!!! and dont forget to try the other side of the river!

Come on Guys I don't have anyone to ride with in Jax, Take me up to Georgia and i'll take you down south to RR for the weekend! ANY TAKERS? No I am not some young kid. 42y/o male for the most part a responsible rider that dosen't trash my stuff cause  I've worked to hard to get what I have.

double checking, but is it ok to camp up here?  (would like to know from the guys who lease the land or someone who is very familiar)  just want to make sure that we would not be squatting.  was thinking of heading up that way with a couple friends and the kids.

If I head up I wouldn't mind dragging the camper as well,generators ok?

A good freind of mine camped out for like 5 days last year there so im sure its ok just let someone know that your going to be there

thanks for the reply.  we are going to head up next Saturday so i will be sure to let the guys know.  thought it would be better to camp there then going to ONF since you cannot double up on the quads there. i am also going to double check and make sure it is ok to camp closer to the water since like all kids, my kids like to throw rocks in the water.  :) 

There are people that camp all up and down the river there. Another good thing about this place is if you have young riders there are big open spaces for them to practice. For the mud guys there are some really nice holes and bogs when the rain is right. You can ride a pretty long way down the river. Just a nice place to hang out and ride.

All I can say is that I finally went and this place is awesome! It has somthing for everyone. Had the chance to climb hills which I have not done in over twenty years which was a blast, played in the Georgia mud/clay fun stuff, rode some trails on both sides of the rode. Found some good places to get down and dirty. Just chose not to venture in to deep for I was the only utility bike there. Was pretty chilly and windy though and was not prepared for that but now I know what to bring and how to dress. All in all was a great time can't wait to go again. Lance and Chris thanks guys!

yea that place is a great place even better in the summer when you can ride hard all over the place then take a dip in the river to cool off, also a awesome place for kids to ride around or just play in the river.

Tons of people there today. Atleast 30-40 trucks/trailers. Alot of new stuff that wasn't there last time. The Creek wasn't real high and the pits weren't as flooded as the last time we went.  Had a blast..

we went up yesterday and the entire place was under water. the only things above water was the road to the parking lot, the gate, and then maybe a couple hundred square feet of parking.

im sure its steadly going down, the only way the pits loose water is threw evaporation so as long as it stays hot and windy the water should receed fairly quickly

well I had a few inspections in the area so I went out of my way to check out the pits.... ITS AWESOME!! low water, looks like they have dug alot more sand out so the pits are bigger and more open sand everything looks great, also they added a porta potty I took pics from my cell phone Ill post later! but good to go unless there is some stupid insane rain storm. :o

Made a trip up there last weekend. Had a blast. Brought along a buddy who had not been before now he doesnt want to ride anywhere else! They are charging $10 per person on weekends but its so worth the money. The water was at about the perfect level. Most of the sand pits were almost or completley dry. Rode the creek for a few hours. That was allot of fun. Drowneded our buddys new honda out to the point where there was water in the cylinder up to where the spark plug was. Just had to see how deep it was... :(


Anyway just wanted to keep everyone informed of the happenings up there. If you live anywhere near this place its worth the trip. We drive almost 2 hours to get there and its worth every second of driving. They have cool trails, nice sand and all the mud you can handle. If you havent been up here its worth a look.

A buddy and I rode Sandbox today. The place is still a great place to ride. They have made a few changes like better parking, 4 high pressure hoses to wash your atvs as well as a outside shower to wash the mud off yourself. Also they have a person living on the property now, and were putting up a gate at the entrance today.


No pics, forgot my gopro. Creek is low, we crossed it on our sport atv's. But there was plenty of mud in some of the trails.

Still the same price and they are making it better. 3 Wheelers not allowed now.
Some guys went last weekend and said it's really muddy right now from all the rain.

It looks like it has changed alot since we were there 2 years ago. Might have to go back after the the water goes down and do some camping and riding. Hey, Xchief, you retired Navy?

TRIKES not allowed over there now?! WTF!?! that saddens me greatly... anybody been there lately? were planning a group ride MAY 25th if anyone wants to meet up, mostly sport machines (250R/250ex/yfz/trx etc etc)
