hey guys, i am new here and an avid avt fan and motorcycle racer.
i am hosting a great big event for the weekend of november 10-11 of this year at oak grove motorsports park/smxa www.southernmxa.com
we will have flat track races on saturday night
tt races on sunday
FREE NEW KTM demo rides saturday and sunday from 9am till dark
full concession, real bathrooms
flattrack atv's will run under sftl rules.
i will have a $500 to win run what ya brung outlaw race under the lights saturday night!
the oval is 1/4 on the inside and almost 3/8 on the outside!  thats WIDE!!!!!
we will also race bikes, and mini sprint cars as well. 
i know the sftl has a points race the following weekend so i wish all of you good kluck there and hope to see you at this event. all of the classes will run for money and sighup fees and profits will all go to benefit the sftl.!

you paying $500 to win on the outlaw race? this is for quads right? 8)

Any pay out for the tt race?

that is correct for the outlaw race.  as far as the tt, yes it will pay money as well but the real show will be on satnight hence the big money.  help me out guys, how does 100% payback sound with $100 extra in each class purse with 10 or more quads?  i am new to quads so dont light me up to bad!  lol  :N

Well ya know I would never miss somethin like this, I will be there with ah few back ups. Do you have overnight parking available?

    Yes, the track has RV hookups for electric. I am figuring we will head up on Friday afternoon just to make sure we get a spot since I'm not sure how big this will be. I have talked with Rob so we could work out all the details. I will post all the details shortly, ie., fees, address, classes, etc.
  In addition, there will be a knobby class(es) on the flat track so spread the word. ;D

yes guys there are electrical hookups.  i dont have an exact count but i will head there this thursday to get more info and ill take some pics of the ammendities(sp) but rest assured guys, this track is sweet.  guys if you have any questions, id be glad to answer anything (i like walks on the beach, movies, lol) j/k guys

ok guys, i have beenworking hard on sponsors and for every class that has 10 or more entries, ill add $100 to the purse!
should i pay top 3 or top 5?
this is my first quad event and on motorcycles i pay 3 but  i want to try to make everyone happy!

as for payout, the open class will race for $500 to win the others are 100% payback and for every 10 riders, i will add $100 to your purse.

so what about the outlaw class?? is it a $500 payout as well? 8)    and if there are less then 10 riders in the open or outlaw class is the payout still $500?  i got one question?  why does your boost fade?  sounds like you got some wastegate issues!!  :N

Do you what the entry/gate fees are going to be?

forgive me if i am wrong but i was under the impression that outlaw and open were the same (run what ya brung class)
the big money will be the fastest class (outlaw if you will) and if there are 2 quads, they will still get paid!

OK... i got one for you guys.. the $500 check needs to be made out to Mystic Motorsports cause its lookin' like the MMR 500 will be running very soon!  so ya'll should know what that means!! a$$ whoopin' time!! 8)

 
    Looks like I'll have to order in those 4 foot wide spacers so that Banshee will be extra wide!!

ok guys, great news.  dallas sullivan has come aboard to take professional pictures and will be there taking special requests.  i use him on all my professional stuff and his prices cannot be beaten and his quality is second to none!

I know that this track is big and all, so how are we going to be doing the racing? Heats and Features, qualifying, heats, and features?

normally, depending on the size of the class, ill run heats and features. say if we have 12 quads in open pro quads, ill run 2 heats of 6.  top 3 in each heat will go to front row and other will take the second row.  there will also be PLENTY of practice as well with probably 3 rounds. 
are their any special precautions i need to know or any special thing quads guys will need so that i can be prepared?
 

So what's the "big news"?

well i am trying VERY hard to get more sponsorship dollas together for some of the other classes too.  to be honest, it has been difficult and i have spent more time than id like to think about on the phone.  honestly, i dont have any more yet, but i would like to get you guys some more money since i know you are travelling a good distance for my race.  hell if nothing else, it would help cover the gas costs.

We told the girls at the Cafe Risque on I-75 that we'd be bringing them five hundred g-string stuffers on our way back through. ;D

sorry for the quiet time guys as i have been wrapping up my season and am proud to report 3 NATIONAL road racing title this year.  as of now, i am back in full tilt boogie mode for this event.  i am working hard with dealers in the area about sponsorships but man, they are just not about racing.  i am however, so this race will be very exciting as i have not seen quad racing in about 2 years and cannot wait.  tha panhandle is not gonna know what hit it.

Dealerships could care less, after you buy a quad from them all you get is bad service and not interested.

hey guys, just a reminder that camping is allowed friday and saturday night as well as sunday if anyone wants.  i have secured a motorgrader from thompson cat rentals and will be on site the ENTIRE time for any maintance/changes that may need to happen.  dont fgorget that all the classes will race for money and not trophies.  if anyone has any information please call me at 850-637-5838.
i know its a long drive for some of you guys but i will make it worth it.  i promise you have not seen a track like this before!

The race is a week away. Can we get some pic's of the TT track or what? ???

sorry about the delay man.  the tt track is not complete due to rain.  the layout is complete but right now the surface is too much like a cushion and i am afraid that the tractor will get stuck.  ill be back out monday to complete the tt course.  and i WILL take pics of it.  right now i will describe it to you.
basically we start on the front straight, go thouugh turn 1 and 2 then immediately have a hard left hander into the infield over a small roller then a hard right (prob secong and third gear in the infield) then you grab a couple gears and head down the infield straight and over a larger roller then brake hard back down into second gear and then a short chute to another hard right which puts you back onto the the back straight headed into turn three then its get it on time headed back into turn one.  you guys will be very impressed.

Well, I'm back. Man what a drive... 6 hours each way ???

It was a good event. The promoter, put out a lot time, effort, and money to put a good race on. Met some cool quad racers from Louisiana and Mississippi who are gonna come down and run with us. I didn't run so well, I had mechanical problems all night Saturday at the flat track race, and the bike finally quit during the first TT heat on Sunday. Sucks to drive all that way and break down, but that's racin' I guess.

Also got to ride the new KTM 450 & 525 on a cool hare scramble type course. The bikes are awesome, but that hydraulic clutch would definately take some getting used to...

Well who won what?

A Raptor from Louisiana, won the flat track.

I don't know who won the TT. When my bike crapped out in the TT heat race, I loaded up and headed home so I didn't get to see the main race.

How many Tbowl/SFTL guys were showed up?

Just me.

There was me, and 4 other quads there. The class was called "outlaw quad".

I thought with the payout they were offering in the quad class, they would have drawn more riders. The promoter was obviously disappointed with the quad turnout as well. He had a good turnout of motorcycles, and a decent turnout of sprint cars.

Our local micro sprint driver #88 Dave Van Raalte started last in the main and worked his way to the lead in a 12 car field, and then proceeded to check out. But, after several cautions and caution laps he ran out of gas :(
Bummer, 'cause he was running great.

   How was the flat track surface? I had heard it was real sandy a few months ago. I really wanted to go but with fuel prices climbing and the wife had family staying with us I stayed home. If there is a next time maybe we could all get together and split some expenses.
